Master Cleanse
So I started the Master Cleanse aka lemonade diet on Sunday. Today is day #3. I really am doing it more to detox my body, hopefully break some bad habits, but the weight loss is a nice bonus.
So far I feel great, for not eating since Saturday. I know a few of you were interested in this when someone else posted it a while back. So I figured, I would post here to keep me motivated. I'm down a total of 4 pounds in two days!

I am hi-jacking a bit here but I always wonder do you gain some of the weight back when you go back to actually eating? If so, about how much? TIA

Re: Master Cleanse
I'm on day 8.. and what I have read on some of the forums is that you do gain some weight back. It depends on your eating habits. The goal is to re-introduce certain foods slowly after fasting.

Re: Master Cleanse
Today I begin day 9, I lost 9.5lbs and 2% body fat. I am going to attempt to go for 2 weeks as I am still having "detox symtpoms" and the book says to go until the symptoms disappear completely.

Re: Master Cleanse
Do you feel very hungry or does it become less as each day passes?

Re: Master Cleanse
I can honestly say, I have NEVER been hungry. I mean true hunger pains, growling tummy... haven't had any. I have had cravings, but it was more mental, I was never hungry. And the cravings got better as time went on

Re: Master Cleanse
This is a very good quick fix diet. But once you go back to eating food, you will gain the weight back. Unfortunately with this type of diet, there is no maintenance. You eventually have to start eating solid foods again. Beyonce did this diet to lose weight quickly for her role in Dreamgirls.
It's ok to cleanse your body, but there are other ways to detox and still eat healthy.
I do wish you luck though! Takes a ton of willpower not to eat for 9 days!

Re: Master Cleanse
Today is day 13 and I'm down 12.5 lbs. I feel pretty good over all, there are some periods here and there that really test my will power, but I'm holding on.
While I admit, the weight loss factor initially drew me to this program, but then after reading the book and other information on the cleanse, I truly believe I am doing something good for my body.
Of course I expect to gain some weight back. But I've learned some things over the past 2 weeks.
1. I was so addicted to sugar and caffiene! I was always so tired and sluggish all the time. I always needed a nap in the afternoon if I was off from work. I just assumed this was b/c of my hectic work hours. But 2 weeks after cutting these things out of my life, I feel better than ever. I sleep less and wake up feeling refreshed. Last week I started working overnight shifts, (which is usually torture for me)... but now its no problem. I can't believe how how awake and clear I feel all day long.
2. I had such bad habits with food, esp sugar. I would snack when I was tired, stressed, happy, sad, cranky, etc... Now, when things get hectic at work and I normally would have grabbed one of the donuts that are always around... I don't. I'm learning I can find other ways to cope with whatever it is I'm feeling. I don't need that cookie at the end of the day, I'm forced to cope with my stress in other ways.
3. I always suffered from horrible headaches, and neck pain from a car accident years ago. Well after the first 5 days, all my aches and pains have gone away. All the tight muscle spasm in my shoulders is gone. The author says cutting foods out of your diet that are hard to digest reduces the inflammatory response in the body, giving you a chance to heal old injuries and rid toxin build up
Anyway thats just a little insight into why I'm doing this. Its not just a quick weightloss fix. But hopefully the wieghtloss will give me extra motivation to eat healthier. I'm hoping when I do resume to eating solids again, hopefully I will make smarter food choices and really listen to my body and stop eating because "I had a bad day" I know it wont be easy, but going thru this now, I'm proving to myself I can do it, I just need to remember that.

It sure sounds like the process has been rewarding for you in more ways than one. Your outlook is wonderful & positive and I'm sure that will carry you a long way!!! Congrats on your progress!
