Maternity clothes questions

I think you are supposed to buy the size you were before you were pg, right?

OK, so does anyone still have the "it fits fine on my thighs and butt, but the waist is gigantic" problem?

Where do you find the clothes fit best?

Re: Maternity clothes questions

early on - the low panels tend to be the best. They can last to the end or you can get some half or full panels later.

They say that you are supposed to buy what your size was before, but I tend to carry all outside - so I had to go up in a shirt size after 7/8 months.

Everyone carries differently, so that's why I think they say, don't buy too much all at once.

Re: Maternity clothes questions

I have a pair of pants and a couple pairs of shorts with the low panels, and they are loose, but not that loose.

I wound up going up a size since I seem to have gotten larger in places other than my stomach! The larger size is a little loose, but not much, and I feel comfortable.

I have been getting one size up and it is sooo much more comfortable. just in case you do end up gaining weight in other places. i do like low bands that dont cover you not sure what its called. I have also been getting bigger top sizes b/c like my sis says i look like a milk maid. LOL

Re: Maternity clothes questions

I actually bought some non-maternity clothes in the beginning...I got a pair of black pants from White House/Black Market that have an elastic waist....in the begininng all of the maternity pants were too big and I was hiking them up all day. I suggest non-maternity for another month or two.

Re: Maternity clothes questions

I had the same problem in the beginning. I used the bella bands to hold up the waise. Now I have no problem filling them in. Chat Icon

Re: Maternity clothes questions

I found the demi panel at the gap worked great for me for jeans and pants. I bought my pre preg size around 15 weeks and they fit me fine then and at 27 weeks they still fit fine. The only thing i would say is that i used the bella band alot because after a few hours the pants would stretch and i would find i had to hike them up constantly. I still wear the bella band sometimes now. But all the pants i have from the gap fit fine - just like my pre-preg clothes. I also bought a pair of seven jeans with the demi panel and took out the elastic. I wear these with the bella band to hold them up and they worked from 20 weeks until now and I can see wearing them until the end of my pg. Now tops - that is another story - i can never find any i like! Good luck!

Re: Maternity clothes questions

im 17 weeks and found that the lower band pants work the best for me-- and bought the size i was before i was pregnant --- the gap and old navy seem to fit the best -- i have a couple of pairs with the thing on the size that you are supposed to resize... and they have just been a PITA..

i am just starting to fully them out with my belly - and still can get into a couple of pairs of my regular pants and try to do so as often as possible - cause soon that will be all donE!

Re: Maternity clothes questions

18 weeks and no clue what to buy! Most stuff looks ridiculous and for anything that fits now, I wonder if it will fit next week or in 2 weeks. I just bought a maternity dress that fits now but I wonder if it will fit for the occasion I bought it for!

Re: Maternity clothes questions

Ive had some issues with buying maternity clothes b/c there doesnt seem to be any consistancy..even within brands...I was a medium before becoming pregnant BUT I have mediums that fit mediums that are to big and mediums that are small!!!!!!!! Things are definitely going to be big in the beginning...I didnt have a big enough belly to really hold things up until about 22 weeks or so..

Re: Maternity clothes questions

I use the bella band with the maternity pants. It holds them up until I grow into them.
