Mattress price comparison

We ordered a Tempurpedic but have not had it delivered yet b/c our bedroom furniture is still shipping. Anyway, I keep wondering if we got ripped off. If anyone has the same bed, can you give me an idea of the price?
It's a Queen sized Deluxe Tempurpedic w/ box. With shipping, we are paying a little under $2700.
Can that be right?

That sounds right. My parents paid $3000 for a king sized bed.

When DH and I bought our mattress we were blown away by how expensive they are also. We bought a Kings Down and paid around $2,000 also. Just remember you keep a mattress for years (that is how I justified it anyway...lol)

Yes, mattresses are a rip off.

I shopped for the best price - even as far as VA (Haynes carried the exact set we wanted but under a different brand name). We got it at Sleepys and talked the sales guy down to almost nothing It's commission based and they price match.

We have a Queen Kings Down mattress & box spring & frame. I got it for $800 INCLUDING tax & delivery The day before that it was down to $995.64.

It took a lot of leg work. I even got my dad involved in VA to go over to Haynes. I had to get the price match approved by some supervisor/manager at Sleepys (price to beat comp. is noted on my invoice) but it was worth it. Had I not discovered that Haynes carried the same set under the different name I would have paid a lot more - maybe double!

I am finding it's the same with cabinetry - Schuler at Lowe's is sold under Medallion and many of the promo photos are the same but the style numbers/names are different.

It's a scam for those that price match since you will NEVER find the exact same brand name to comparison shop.

That sounds about right. We paid about $2600 for ours and that was with a lot of negotiation.
