Mattress Recommendations Needed

I am searching for a new mattress, the first I've ever bought brand new! A friend and I went browsing today at Original Mattress Factory and Macy's and I liked a couple at each place.

I know the tempurpedic's are super popular, but they're so expensive and I've heard they retain heat.

I liked the Orthopedic Super Comfort at OMF and the Beautyrest Black Whitten Pillowtop (but this one is as expensive as tempurpedic!)

How did you pick your mattress? What did you find is important? What do you like or dislike about yours?

I bought a natural Latex mattress from habitat furnishings. No chemical fire retardants were my biggest concern, but I went with this company because they have a 6 month money back guarantee, and latex mattresses last 20-30yrs. For our guest room we got a mattress from tuft and needle....again no chemical flame retardants and it's super comfy! My sister went home and ordered one for herself after her visit.
