Maui- More questions
I will be able to stay at a Mariott for free for 2 weeks with points.
I see that there are 3 properties:
1. Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa 3700 Wailea Alanui Wailea - Maui, HI 96753
2. Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina & Napili Towers
3. Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Molokai, Maui & Lanai Towers
There is also the "airport" property which is not an option.
Does anyone have any experience with these properties? I am also pretty sure the ONLY one available is number 1.
But does anyone have an opinion good or bad on the Mariott properties, or does it really matter? Its all pretty good and its all pretty close to stuff?
Thanks!

Re: Maui- More questions
my parents have their time share at 2. Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina & Napili Towers
we were there two years ago for 2 weeks- we had a great time- there is a great pool with slides and waterfalls and a pirate ship - and then two other quieter pools - the water is very calm there.
there is a good restaurant there - plus grills and tables outside to cook your own food
there are also a lot of restaurant sna da small outdoor mall walking distance away
there is a golf course near by also
room was very clean and housekeeping was helpful

Re: Maui- More questions
The ocean club properties are located on Kaanapali Beach. Great location. Close to Lahaina and very nice beach.
The Wailea property is on the other side of the island.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with Maui! It depends on what you're looking to do on Maui. If you plan on spending lots of time in Lahaina, you might prefer the Kaanapali area. If you would like to poke around in Kihei, you might prefer the Wailea side.
We prefer the Kaanapali side of the island. There are tons of great restaurants right on Kaanapali beach or 5 minutes away in Lahaina. There is a "beach walk" that goes from Black Rock at one end of the beach all the way down to Canoe Beach by the Hyatt.

I am bias toward the Kaanapali properties since that is where we stayed on our HM and loved it! It was close to Lahaina too.

Maui- More questions
Wailea is a quieter area with mostly hotels, upscale shopping and beaches, along with some restaurants. You will pass Wailea on the way to Kaanapali. Kaanapali has a more relaxed atmosphere IMO and is closer to Lahaina.

Re: Maui- More questions
Lahaina is an old whaling village. It's basically a "main street." There's art galleries, restaurants, bars, shopping (not high end, more local stuff and t-shirts, etc.), a movie theater. There's also the Banyan Tree park, the old prison, an old mission house. Charter boats for snorkeling trips, whale watching and fishing leave from the docks there, as well as the ferries to Lanai and Molokai.
If you google Front Street in Lahaina you'll find lots of pictures.
