Maxi Dresses for Short Women

I love the maxi dress look! I really want to get some, especially since we go on a lot of cruises and the decks are windy and I'm tired of yanking down my dresses or flashing people my assss. Anyway, is it possible to make it work on a woman who is 5'3? I'm 5'3, 120 lbs., kinda curvy. Do I just need to get a good one and then get the length altered? They all look frumpy on me.

I am 5'0'' and I have two that i love! I think it is harder to find ones that do not completely swallow me up but it is possible. Try to stick with solids or horizontal stripes. I think thart v-neck ones give the allure that you are taller.
try to avoid crazy prints.

Also, I haven't purchased (or tried on any yet) but i think the maxi skirt could be a great option for us little girls with a cute tank.

You could look for petites lines that have maxi dresses, but if you get a msises one altered, make sure the waist is falling in the right place for you. If you are petite the wasit may fall in the wrong place, and then it is baggy where it should be narrow on you.

You could get that taken in, or look into having the straps shortened in additon to the length shortened--depending on your proportions.

This is the issue I always have with formal gowns like BM & my wedding gown.

Hmmm I like the skirt and tank idea, too! I guess that's my problem- I always go for crazy prints because they are so pretty and then I look like a weirdo. Maybe I'll try some on this weekend- as long as I know it's possible! lol! Thanks!

i just buy my regular size and get them hemmed for 8 bucks.
