May I ask?
Does everyone know the age/sex of their children yet? Is that a dumb question?

Re: May I ask?
NO dumb questions!!!
Because we already have a daughter our agency allowed us to request a boy. If we had not had any children they would not allow us to chose the sex. We have to give a 12 month age range. So we are adopting a boy 3-15 months old. We will not know the specifics until we get "the call". As for other programs: If you adopt from China 99% of the time you will be adopting a girl. Overall there are more boys to adopt than girls, other than in China.

Re: May I ask?
Not a dumb question at all. I wish we knew! Chances are, we'll be getting a boy because there are SO many more boys than girls up for adoption in the Korean agency we're working with. We requested a young infant in the age range of 5-12 months. Right now, referrals are averaging around 7 months old. With the Korea program, we were unable to select a gender preference, but even if we were able to, we wouldn't have chosen a girl because then our wait would increase by a million years! Like Michelle said, the only place you're pretty much guaranteed to get a girl is from China....but even there there are excpeptions.

Re: May I ask?
We are adopting from China and as the girls said above we are almost guaranteed to get a girl. We actually requested that in our paperwork as well just to be sure. You can not request a specific age in China but you can request an infant and that is normally in the 6 to 14 month range. On average, those requesting infants are about 10 months old at referral.

Re: May I ask?
we adopted from China and requested a girl as young as possible up to 14 months. Diana was 16 months at referral and 18 months when we brought her home. There were a lot of toddlers in our groups referrals. China considers any child under 2 to be an infant
