Maybe someone knows...rent related
If my agreement says 45 days notice and I tell him I am leaving October 1st can I leave Nov 15th and pay 1.5 rent or am I expected to pay 2 months rent? Never dealt with 45 day deals. P.S. The roof is leaking into my apt and I have no heat. I want to leave now!

I'm pretty sure this would be spelled out in your lease. If not, try to get away with the 2 weeks. Did you begin renting on the 15th or the 1st?

rented on the 1st thats why I figured 45 days makes it the 15th.

Re: Maybe someone knows...rent related
I work in property management and if a tenant stays past the first couple days of the month they have to pay the full month's rent.
But since you're having problems with your unit, Id try to talk to the landlord and get out of paying the full 2 months.

If it is not specified elsewhere, you are only responsible for what you would have to give notice for.
I also wanted to add, since you are having livability issues, you might mention that. If the apartment is not in the same condition as when you signed the lease, then the terms have changed. With a leaky roof I would think that you are facing a safety & livability issue, You might mention that if you feel like they are giving you a hard time.
Also you HAVE TO have heat by law if the temperature drops below 32 at might.

In the lease it states that my security 2500 could not be used to pay for rent. Soooo pretty much whatever he wants he is getting. By the way I forgot to mention its a house lease not a complex lease.

You only pay for the 45 days you occupy the place
