Meal Deliver - Blue Apron vs Plated
I tried Plated. It was fine. Im an "experienced" cook and it took me longer than than the 30 min to make the meals. Also, I felt that the meals that SAY they feed 2 people, really only feed 1 1/2 people. It didn't seem like enough for 2 people.
However. The food was REALLY fresh, clean. It tasted good. Great condition. I had no problem with the quality of food sent nor the instructions..(except for one of the recipes).

I've been using Hellofresh for awhile and love it. I believe its the same idea as the other 2 you mentioned. Portions are plenty for 2 people and everything has been really fresh with a lot of variety in the recipes. Here is a code to use for $20 off your first box SK6BJJ Let me know if you have any other questions!

I had a groupon for hellofresh and just used it- we loved it! I am pretty sure that there is still an offer up there.

I tried plated and really liked it- but I think it's too $$ for me.

Meal Deliver - Blue Apron vs Plated
Hello Fresh: tried for 3 weeks. Didn't like the recipes very much (not very interesting) and the herbs and produce were not too fresh.
Plated: used for 8 months. Pros - really liked the recipes, got two large servings out of each meal, meat is from a wonderful butcher (Mosner Family Brands) and seafood is sustainably caught, produce was always fresh, and I found the estimated cooking times fairly accurate. Cons - most expensive, our toddler rarely touched the meals.
Blue Apron: been using the family plan (2 or 4 meals a week with 4 servings each) since Jan 1. Pros - very reasonably priced, we are able to split each meal into 2 nights, recipes are toddler-friendly without being boring, produce is fresh. Cons - they never gave me a straight answer about the source of the meat and seafood, the cooking times are WAY underestimated (last night's meal was supposed to take 15-25 minutes, but it took me over an hour from prep to plate).

Thank you all for the feedback, tough choice to make. I'm also concerned about cancelling.

Re: Meal Deliver - Blue Apron vs Plated
I've tried both, and prefer Blue Apron (still using it after starting in July 2013). I'm a lazy cook, so I like how with Blue Apron, you don't have to pick and choose your meals. They offer one menu (3 meals) and if you like it, opt in for that week's delivery.
While Plated is a comparable system, you have to take a little more time to figure out which plates you want to order.
Also, Blue Apron is cheaper and subscription is free. What I do is go online and opt out of every upcoming delivery. Then, when they issue the menu for a week, if I like it, I opt in to that delivery.

I tried plated but didn't care for it. I felt like the fresh ingredients were sub par (I find nicer looking veggies at the supermarket) and the recipes were NOT easy 30 min recipes.

They offer 6 dishes, you can modify the 3 you want

Meal Deliver - Blue Apron vs Plated
I got a Hello Fresh deal on living social, just got it today and made my first meal. It was good and easy. I personally wouldnt pay full price but if I worked long hours or had a long commute I think I would as it is so nice and easy and you get a homecooked meal.

Re: Meal Deliver - Blue Apron vs Plated
I've been using Blue Apron for almost a year. I'm happy with them. I tried Plated but went back to blue apron. I hated having to pick the meals with Plated... I just never had the time to pick them out. Blue apron picks everything and then sends it.
I have a couple of invitations in my account if you want to try the first week for free. Just FM me your email address. Every few weeks or so they give me a couple more invitations to send to my friends and family.

My co-worker & his boyfriend (who are kind of snobs with food) orders from Blue Apron all of the time. They love it.

We have been using blue aoron for a year and love it. I love how it's so easy to cancel a week or more if we don't need it!
