Measuring "behind schedule"
Hi! Out of curiosity, has anyone on here measured a week behind early on & had their edd pushed back a week even though they know when they O'd? If so, is this common & is it ok?
Here's some background: After some spotting I went for my first sono a week & a 1/2 ago at what should have been exactly 7 weeks, but the OB said I looked more like 5 1/2 weeks & that there was no fetal pole. I went back again this past weekend for a follow-up & thankfully we saw the little one & heard it's h/b (130bpm), so thankfully everything seems to be progressing normally. The thing is, was measuring at 7w1d instead of 8w1d like I thought he/she should be. Normally I would think that I just O'd late, but with crazy holiday traveling, staying w/family & a lack of BDing while we were there I know when I O'd & my bean should have measured a week older. I feel fine & everything looked perfect, so I guess I'm just wondering if this is pretty common & I shouldn't worry about it? Thanks!

Re: Measuring "behind schedule"
The baby could've implanted later. It is normal for the dates to change, as long as things are still progressing normally.

Re: Measuring "behind schedule"
there could be lots of reasons - you might've had a late implanter, or the measurements could be out a bit. At that stage, every little millimeter counts and it's all very hard to see clearly - they say the sonographers measurements are correct +/-5 days.
If the doctor says everything's progressing the way it should, you should believe him/her.

+/-5 days...that's interesting - I didn't know that! I thought that it might have been late implantation too, but I didn't know if that could really happen. Perhaps all of the flying & driving & lack of sleep affected me/implantation.
Thanks ladies

Re: Measuring "behind schedule"
Yes, I know when I o'd and the dr made the due date a week later based on the first sono. Then she moved it up 2 days based on the next sono. Then I changed offices, and because the baby was them measuring right on schedule with my O date, they moved it back to what I originally said it should have been. And he was born on his due date!!!

Re: Measuring "behind schedule"
One of my babies measured a week behind in the beginning. I think he caught up around 16 weeks.

Re: Measuring "behind schedule"
I didn't measure behind schedule but I did measure a week ahead of schedule. I had my due date changed from 2/21 to 2/14 with DS#2 but he was born 2/22 - one day late.
DS#1 was due 3/8 and was born 2/19 - perfectly healthy, 7lbs 12ozs.
This time around #3, people ask me when I am due and I say sometime around 7/4 because who knows when the baby will actually come.
As long as the baby is developing and is healthy try not to worry too much. The baby could have a growth spurt and move ahead again - who knows.

Re: Measuring "behind schedule"
My DS was measuring behind in the first trimester and I knew the exact time I Oed. In the second, he was about right on. By 34 weeks he was measuring at 41 weeks. I gave birth at 38 weeks to an 11 1/2 pound baby. I think he caught up.
ETA: My due date was never changed.
