Hi Ladies,
I'm new to the board and will being TTC very soon. I have a question...
I'm currently on a SSRI for anxiety and I'm not sure if it's ok to take while pregnant. I'm going to speak to my Doctor I was just hoping someone could give me their experience....
thanks!

Re: Medication & Pregnancy?
Let me know what your doc says
My IBS meds are a combo of anti-anxiety and gestational relaxants (of some type)
I just avoid taking my meds now.

Re: Medication & Pregnancy?
I would speak to your doctor about the medication before you try to conceive. When I was pregnant with my son I had already weaned myself off of Paxil. While pregnant I was having really bad anxiety attacks and my doctor offered to give me a prescription for a lower dose than I had been taking. I worked through it myself and haven't gone back on meds at all. Now I read that paxil has been linked to specific birth defects in children.
My friend was told that she can't ttc because of the meds that she's taking and there could be possible side effects. When on medication, you should tell your OBGYN months in advance. There are many factors around what meds are OK and not.
Good luck:)

I used to be on Paxil but am currently on Lexapro.
I have heard about the side effects from the Paxil which is what concerns me. It's just so hard b/c there isn't a whole lot of studies and info out there.
thank you for your help!
