meeting other moms...
Im pregnant and just wanted some advice from the moms about how you met other moms in your neighborhood. I am 26 but none of my friends or anyone in my family are EVEN close to having kids soon! I get worried (already) about having other moms to hang out with and talk to in my neighboorhood. I worry a little that my friends are not going to want to hear about baby stuff constantly and just wondering if you had some advice on getting friendly with other moms. THANKS!

You might get friendly with some moms if you take a lamaze or other birth related classes. My friend has a 3 year old and is still very close to many of the women in her class.
My library has a lot of programs for new moms/babies/ toddlers.
After the birth there is always mommy and me type classes.
I've met some moms at the parks near my home.
I think I get approached more often due to the double stroller. Everyone is curious.
Our block only has one house with small children and they are absolute terrors, completely undisciplined 4 year old and 18 month old. The mom is nice but we don't have all that much in common.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, first of all.
Second of all, the hospital where you give birth will most likely have a New Moms Support Group. My local library even has one. Depends where you live- but those are great b/c you're all in the same boat- first time motherhood. They may not be in your neighborhood, but they'll probably be pretty close.
To find somethign closer to you,, check out your local churches. Most time you do not have to be religously affiliated with the church- believe me I am the least religious person out there. They usually have Mothers Groups.
Good luck, and good for you for thinking of this now. It can get pretty lonely if you don't have a support system.

Join some mommy and me classes! I joined Gymboree with Julia when she was 6 months old and met some really nice girls, we still have playdates today and our kids are 2.

I found that being outside and gardening really helped me meet people. I would put the kid (now both) in the stroller and there were tons of moms that came by and eventually we would turn our "hi's" to conversations.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I too have the same concern as you. My DS is now 6 weeks old and we are signed up to take a bunch of classes starting next month so we can meet other new moms and babies...
Try this website. I found a new moms group in my neighborhood on it...

It's difficult because I work full time and on the weekends we are too busy running around to meet anyone.

I actually met a lot of great moms right here on LIF. I think most of us are in similar situations, plus it's nice to meet the people you vent to, get advice from and "talk" to everyday.

Same here. You can also go here, click on playgroups and type in your zip, a bunch of local places will pop up so you can look into them.

You could meet moms or moms-to-be through LIF GTG.
I have to find it but there was an ad/flyer in the Super Suppers in Bethpage. It was about a group that organize moms-to-be to meet each other.

I joined a new mom's support group that was offered by the hospital I delivered and I also joined Music together when DD was 6 months.
