Re: Meeting to discuss Kitchen design options tonight....

my biggest dilemmas right now are:

double oven or no double oven (more cabinet and counter space without it)

eat in kitchen or countertop with bar stools

two questions

re: oven
can you do without the extra storage space/counter space?

re: coutertop
do you have a formal dining room?

see, if you have a formal dining room, I'd do an island countertop with bar stools...especially if that gives you any more space so you can do the double oven.

we are looking to maximize storage/counter space. We already have a wall oven...it takes up so much space....but we love to entertain for many people...hence the dilemma...I think I may eventually regret not going with the double oven.. We do have a formal dining room...and we want to remove the eatin kitchen for even more space...

ahh, I see your dilemma. I didn't realize you were already getting the wall oven.

please report back what the designer and you guys decided!

I have a double wall oven, and i do not think it takes up that much space, i am not a huge cook, but its come in handy so many times, because you can cook at 2 different temps and you can FIT alot of food in there, you can also keep it warm as well.

My inlaws have a much smaller kitchen then us and they put a double wall oven in, same as us!

here are some pics

If you are unsure about the double oven you can go with a convection microwave, that's what I did instead of a double oven.

You keep your storage but it's great to have as an extra smaller oven for the few times a year I have a large crowd and can use more oven space.

I am not a fan of double ovens because I feel like the inside of them is smaller than a conventional oven (it might be all in my head though).
I never had a double oven but I always want one when I cook for the holidays.
When my parents redid their kitchen, they didn't want wall ovens so then installed 2 stand alone ovens on opposite sides of the kitchen.

my pick.
double oven (couldn't do w/o mine)
Island (would also double as more counter space when needed)
Have fun. We just redid out kitchen and it was stressful to me. Most people think it is fun, so enjoy!

I would do a single oven with a convection oven/microwave and a warming drawer.

My BIL has this and i tworks out great, they entertain family ALL THE TIME and there are like 20+ of us. The warming drawer is ideal and its big, we fit a ton in there!

does the warming drawer come with the oven or is it separate?

I would do the double oven too..
OR- have you seen the ranges with the two compartments? One smaller oven and one bigger right below it? I know some of the sets on the food network shows have that.

I am pretty sure the warming drawer and the oven were 1 unit as the controls for teh drawer are on the oven. The microwave/convection was separate.
