Megan has been waking up in the middle of the night again

Well it looks like I have joined the "my baby used to sleep great and now is up in the middle of the night" club!

Megan is almost 7 months old and for the past few nights she has been waking up like when she was a newborn. I try not to go over to her..I let her fiddle around in her crib for a while but all she does is want to play (Sound familiar Rach???). Then she cries..I let her cry for a while last night but she gets way too upset and turns all red.

Finally as a last resort, I gave her a small bottle. It seemed like she just wanted it to pacify her, not because she was hungry.

She was up from about 2-5 in the morning and finally fell asleep by talking to herself. I think her teeth are bothering her..I just hope this is a quick stage..do you think she is reverting back to waking up in the middle of the night????

I think that she could be teething.

DD used to wake in the middle of the night and then we would notice another tooth coming in Chat Icon

7 months seems to be the age when babies start waking in the night again. same thing happened with my two. most babies are teething at this stage and are starting to learn to stand and cruise and sit up by themselves. so they want to be active and not sleep. it passes quickly. Chat Icon i also found giving a tiny bit of more formula at bedtime may hold them out for more sleep as well.

Re: Megan has been waking up in the middle of the night again

it's totally teething and developmental milestone related. At 14 months old, we have been dealing with it for about 2 months now....

some nights she wakes several times and other nights all we hear is one outburst in her sleep and she sleeps all night. We're cutting teeth like CRAZY for the past few weeks.

They also will start to wake right before a milestone is reached or immediately following it....so maybe something big is about to happen!!

Noreen I have no advice because I'm in the same boat as you Chat Icon Maddie has been doing this for about a week now. I'm a little comforted in knowing our DD's are the same age so at least it's not out of the ordinary because I was starting to think something was wrong w/her. I've been caving and just feed her when she wakes. It's weird because she seems to just want to pacify herself but won't take the actual pacifier.

OMG Doreen..EXACTLY!!!!

I give her the pacifier, but she just plays with it. She wont suck on it, but will suck the nipple of the bottle.

She is generally a thumb sucker but I think her teeth are bothering her so much that she cant even suck her thumb which makes her more frustrated. She is generally not screaming in pain but you can tell there is something wrong. I know I shouldnt be picking her up to feed her but I cant stand seeing her uncomfortable. We are also in the same room as her which makes it very hard when dh has to sleep for work the next day.

I am so happy to have people going through this with me though, I cant lie. Last night I was wondering how many other lif ladies were up with their babies. LOL

To all of you ladies going through the same thing..do you notice that your dc has more or less of an appetite? Megan is eating like crazy during the day..so I am wondering if its a growth spurt.

Ryan just got over this 3 hour nightly party phase at 6 months...I never thought it would end. He did get 2 teeth shortly thereafter and started sitting so who knows what the problems was. But dare I say he slept 12 hours the past 2 nights. Please God don't let me jinx that by typing this....

Did you try what I told you last night? She could definitely be going through a growth spurt, but if she's waking and doesn't want a bottle, or only drinks a couple of ounces, then she's probably not hungry.

James does this occassionally. He has two teeth right now, and sure enough right before they popped through he was waking up yelling. I didn't notice a change in his appetite, though. Good luck! I hope she sleeps for you tonight!
