Mentoring

I have been a permanent sub for 4 years and I've had two leave replacements, but no mentoring experience. My childhood ed. certification will expire in February. How do I get professional certification without mentoring experience? Am I eligible even though I'm a substitute? Would mentoring be a full school year? Do I apply for an extension? Any info would be appreciated!

Re: Mentoring

Technically the schools where you were a leave should have provided you with mentoring. It is not required, but strongly encouraged.

Since you have not been mentored, you will need to apply for an extension. Mentoring is typically a set number of hours per district. My former district was 60 contact hours.
