Mercy Medical Center
Does anyone know if all the rooms are now private there? I heard a rumor that when the redesigned everything they were. I was supposed to deliver at South Nassau but my OB rather I go to Mercy now just in case we need the NICU because it's a higher level there. I didn't get to tour Mercy because of bedrest and they only do tours every 3rd Sat of the month and I don't know if I'll make it to the 3rd Sat in March.

Re: Mercy Medical Center
I delivered DS there and yes, the rooms were private. I had an AMAZING experience there. My son was in the NICU and the nurses were amazing. The only neg is that I had to be placed on antibiotics, as I was running fever during delivery, and I developed Cdiff. I've spoken to many medical professionals and they've all said that I didnt necessary contract it from the hospital, the antibiotics just brought it out. But it did leave a real bad taste in my mouth. But after a lot of research, I will be delivering my second DC at Mercy. The positives far out weigh the negatives.

Re: Mercy Medical Center
my cousin delivered at Mercy in September and while the rooms weren't private, she ended up with a private because it wasn't full. she was also supposed to deliver at south nassau until they decided on induction and her doctor was on call at Mercy that night so they went there instead.

Re: Mercy Medical Center
I did not deliver there, but almost did and took a tour. The rooms are not private, but they way they fill them is one person in each room and then they double the rooms of the people that are going home to try and keep them as private as they can be for as long as they can be. they also have some private rooms if you get lucky. Great NICU.

Re: Mercy Medical Center
I had DS in October and the rooms are private. They only double up if all the rooms are full.
The rooms are private because the baby stays in the room with you to encourage breast fedding.
I had DS#1 in 2009 and they changed the policy since then b/c DS#1 was brought back to the nursey every night.
