Metaformin
My RE is putting me on metaformin due to an elevated insulin level. He basically told me that my slightly elevated level could be an early sign of diabetes, which could cause infertility issues.
This is definately not something I wanted to hear.
Now I am very nervous, because I don't want to have diabetes, but I don't want to have any more issues with getting pregnant.
Why does this have to be so hard? 
Is anyone on metaformin for the same reason? Did you have many side effects?

I am taking Metformin. My sugar levels were borderline normal but my RE put me on it anyway, it has been proven to cause ovulation.
When I took it my levels were raised but ovulation did not occur.
The side effects are diarrhea and cramping but it can be controlled with the right diet. What dosage are you taking?

I'm on Metformin too! I'll shamelessly admit that i'm suppose to take 1500 mgs but I only take 500mg. The side effects were def. living in the bathroom..tmi. If I were you I would start the dosage slow until a week and up it from there. Good luck!

I lost weight and I also lost cellulite. That was the best side effect ever.
I never really had any stomach issues at all. Only dehydration during the summer months.

I was on it due to my PCOS (insulin resistance).
Clomid alone doesn't work well on PCOS patients but Metformin usually does. I did ovulate twice on Metformin alone and had IUI's but no luck with them. They were actually my 3rd and 4th IUI. First two were with Clomid alone.
The good news, I did ovulate on it!
It does not mean you will get Diabetes but you should still watch your diet... carbs and sugars to help the medicine along.
I hope I have the same results as you!

I was shocked at how much weight I lost, about 20 pounds since I started it in July. I was taking 500mg, but now I have to take 1000mg. For the first week I had some cramping, but last night I thought I was dying. The pain was so bad I passed out and fell off the toliet! It lasted for hours. I hope that this will get better, if it doesn't I just do see how I can do this for 9 months.

I only started taking it last night, so no side effects yet.
I didn't know that it could cause you to lose weight....that's a plus, I would love for that to happen 
I have no problems with ovulation, but I am excited that it could help with that to.

I have no problems with ovulation, but I am excited that it could help with that to.
Im starting tomorrow...I am praying that I do not have the side effects.

I'm sorry that all you ladies have to be on Metformin also. But at the same time I am happy that I am not the only one.
I was very scared and worried about having to be on it. But you ladies have definately put my mind at ease.....thank you for that

Sorry, I know this is an old post..
But I was just put on Metaformin, for high blood sugar..
I am scared about being on a medication, but i am glad to hear that it helps with ovulation, beause my periods were getting really weird. Ironically, the 2nd day I was taking Metaformin, I got my period...I am sure its just a coincidence...
I have been having the cramping & diarrea too, but not sure if its because of TBAF or its metaformin, or the Cipro they had me on for 3 days for a UTI
I am a mess..
How long did the side effects last for you? Did you have any other side effects? I am feeling anxiety, but I think thats just me being paranoid...not the medication...

I've been on metaformin for about 2 months now. I did notice that I ovulated a lot earlier with it....approx 4 days earlier.
I noticed a little weight loss. But the main side effect I have is with my stomach (gas, blotting and diarrhea)....some days are worse than others.
I was nervous to be on it in the beginning also, but now I'm fine with it.
I hope it helps with your sugar level.

Ive been on it since October. I am taking 1500mg. I experienced diarrhea and nausea as I increased my dosage. That only lasted a few days. NOw, I have 0 symptoms.
