Metal door frames.....
Anyone have these in their house. The new house we bought has these in quite a few rooms. Are they a pain to take off? I think it is all one piece. Should I just try to take the paint off and re-paint. Wwe are changing all of the mouldings in the house so i'm not sure what to do about these.

We have them. We painted them since we don't know how to hang doors ourselves and our doorways are smaller than standard doors today so it would be a big project for us to make them bigger. We have them replaced by the contractor as we have rooms redone.

We have them and yes, they are a pain to take off. We've gotten quotes to get them done and they were high. Also, if you have wood floors, you risk damaging them when taking them off (at least what I've heard). We just paint them. We will have them removed when we have other work done in the house.

Re: Metal door frames.....
we have them. Uggh, I hate them. We did replace all the doors in our house, but not the door frames. We just had to cut each door to size.
We sanded and painted them as best we could. I really wish we could get rid of them, but that's not even a plan for now.

Re: Metal door frames.....
We have them and for now we're just painting them... Too many other things we need to do that are more pressing to waste money on removing them now. I have a feeling we'll wind up replacing many of the interior doors, but we probably won't bother with the frames.
We also have metal window frames, but we plan to change those when we get new windows either next year or the year after...
