Methotrexate Injection Tomorrow

The Cytotec didn't work. I went to my RE today. Nothing on the sono and my HSG went up 50 points. They can't rule out an eptoic pregnancy. That's why my RE wants to give me the shot because the pregnancy is still growing at an unhealthy rate. I'm kind of nervous and I'm hoping this works. Anyone have this shot? what are the side effects? My RE said I could start TTC next cycle. Any advise would be great. Thanks :)

hi, i know this sounds crazy but it's good they are giving you the shot. i truly believe that if my ob at the time had given me the shot, i wouldn't have required the surgery that removed my tube. i'm glad your RE is being proactive. from everything i've read, most RE's ask you to wait 3 months before TTC again because of the lingering drug in your body.....not saying your RE is wrong but maybe just double check. i hope it goes ok. i'm so sorry you have to go through this.

yes, you're right. my RE is very proactive. i really hope this works. i'm very confused about the TTC afterwards. i keep reading online about waiting 3 cycles but my RE keeps assuring me that 1 cycyle should be good. i have very long cycles. i don't know if that is playing a roll. thank you very much for your support. it makes me feel that i'm not alone. i just want some closure so i can move on.

I did, I didnt have any side effects but make sure its done in your butt... the nurse at the ER tried to give it to me in my arm, i made them double check.

Make sure you speak with your Dr about what you should do after the shot. I was told not to drink Alcohol and not to take my PNVs because of the FOlic Acid. Good luck!

I had it last November for an ectopic preg. I didn't have any side effects or bleeding. My body ended up re-absorbing the pregnancy. Only negative ( which really isn't a negative when compared to losing a tube) is that it took 12 weeks for my HCG hormones to go all the way down.

Check w/ your doctor about TTC, the shot depletes most of the folic acid in your body. I gave myself time to build my nutrients back up and we're somewhat TTC again now.

Thanks. I had my shot yesterday. It was in the butt. My RE told me to not have alcohol or take prenatals for this month. He said I might have some sensitivity to the sun. He said I should be spotting and bleeding continuously for this month. My HSG might increase at first due to the cells dividing but then they should decrease after that. They said this is a slow process but should be back to normal by Sept. I'm going once a week now to the RE for blood work. I feel good. I feel like a got some closure yesterday and that things are moving in the right direction.

I had spotting for about 6 weeks. Then i got AF when my beta was under 100. It was 1200 when i got the shot at the end of October. I got AF mid December.

My levels were only 451 when I got the shot so I'm hoping they go down quickly.
