Microchip?
When we adopted Jersey, her foster mom said to notify her after she was spayed so she could register her microchip with our info. What exactly does this mean? If she gets lost and is brought to a shelter, etc. can they "scan" her to see where her home is? Sorry for the dumb question .

Re: Microchip?
That's exactly it...she already has the microchip, they will just register it with your name and address in case she gets lost or stolen.

Re: Microchip?
Also, if you put the microchip number on her tag if she gets lost whomever finds her will know to take her to a vet to get scanned.

Re: Microchip?
Where can we get a puppy microchiped? Our vet says he doesn't do this, and I know it's a good thing to do for our little one!!

I'd like to add to this question and ask if you can only do this with puppies? I adopted my little guy in September, and I know he doesn't have one, and I thought about getting him one. He's a little over 3 yrs old.

Any age dog can be chipped. They can do it during a regular visit. My vet preferred to chip my dogs during their spay/neuter surgeries just to avoid discomfort to them but it can be done anytime really.
Most vets do it, surprised your vet does not.

Re: Microchip?
I'd try another vet -- very odd that they don't do it....

Re: Microchip?
Holden & Bella came with microchips and we decided to have one implanted in Denver at his 1 year check up. You can update all your info on line, and it's a great tool in case, God forbid, they ever get separated from you. I def recommend doing it.

Re: Microchip?
we had Boogie microchipped a little over one years old- the vet did it in the office, was quick during an office visit- and whenever I go I have them check him- we used Home Again

Re: Microchip?
I am glad we did it through our vet. We had trouble with updates that never went through. We called to verify and they still had old information after we had given them corrections. They initially got some information wrong and luckily, we caught this. It took a while to correct but in the meantime, there would have been a way for our vet to be notified if something had happened, and for her to contact the company to help us find him.
We learned that the info on the vet who installed the chip remains with the chip.
