Mid-Suffolk Handyman - opinions?

I know it's hard to find a good all-around handyman these days, especially one that doesn't price gouge.

I just called this service (http://www.midsuffolkhandyman.com/) and they surprised me by saying they'd be out today to look at my roof leak.

If anyone has experience, could you share?

Not great. He never came by or called the day he said he would. I called the next day and the woman who answered after 10 rings had a baby crying in the background, I guess she was working from home. She said she'd call me back on when they could come.

So I called Jay from Top Notch (631-748-1405) and he was at my house in less than a half hour. LIinMI recommended him in a thread a while back.

He just happened to be in the neighborhood, I don't think everyone will get a half hour turnaround. He didn't quote us a price because he felt that the leak was caused by the buildup of ice underneath the shingles from the noreaster and recommended we wait and see if it continues. He was right, the leak dried up. But we do need our roof replaced (we knew that anyway) and will be getting quotes for that now.

We have other work to be done and will probably be using Jay. Mid-Suffolk called back late that day, setup a visit for today between 9 and 10am but we lost power again this morning so I had to cancel.

I admit it, I'm impressed when people who stand to make money from me recommend saving it instead or an alternative.

I'll update this thread with my experience with Jay, but I'd definitely call him if I were you.
