Mikayla's first doctors visit
was today...she has lost another ounce since leaving the hospital (she is now 8lb, 11 ounces and she was 9lb, 8oz at birth) the doctor wants to do a weight check on Thursday so our goal is to beef her up a bit by then. I hope she fattens up, I am so afraid that she is not getting enough to eat so we will be supplementing with breast milk or formula if she does not nurse enough
good news - the doctor was not OVERLY concerned and she is healthy in all other aspects

Sounds good. I wouldn't worry too much about the weight yet. Just make sure she has a good latch and that she's sucking well.

Don't worry, bigger babies will/can lose more. My son did as well. He was back up in no time!

Re: Mikayla's first doctors visit
Don't worry too much about the weight. My ds was less at the first visit then he was at the hospital when we left. my ped said it was fine, he might have lost more b/f getting weighed at his office and is now on his way up. We had to go back 2 days later and he had gained 3 ounces or something.......and has been gaining every since!!!! He was EBF.
