Mil is driving me crazy

This woman is literly going to send me to a South Oaks.

She called me a work today asking me to order a cake for her daughter after dragging the info out of her it turns out she wants a cake for my DH for his birthday and I have to bring it home. I couldnt understand why do after drilling somemore it turns out that she wants to go up to his job and bring it up to him to celebrate his birthday with the other employees. He works in a resturant where he started about 3mths ago and they are training him to run their store so within a few mths he will have a store of his own.

I couldnt understand the whole thing so I told her I would call back. So she calls me back and said what time is good for you for dinner I figured we will all go up there and celebrate his birthday and have dinner together. So I told her he gets out of work early tomorrow we can do this tomorrow, I am having 50 of his friends to my house for a party on saturday and then another 10-15 family over on Sunday I really dont think we should go up to his job. So she tells me today is his birthday not Thur, Sat or Sun. So I told her if she wanted to go she can go with SIL and FIL but I wont go b/c I think it is embarrassing for his Momma to walk in with a cake for his birthday, that it was unprofessional and that this is a job not a hang out. How seriously are his employees going to take him when his mother is in there celebrating her babys birthday. Meantime I have been with DH for 10yrs and never once seen a birthday cake at his mothers house.
IL's don't see a problem with this. They go there for lunch or dinner at least 3 or 4 times a week and FIL goes there somedays for lunch and dinner. I asked if he worked in a office would they go there and hang out in the lobby waiting for him same thing. But they dont see it like that. I have been there 2x since he started and it was to drop stuff off to him not to hang out or for food.
She claims I am not allowing her to be a mother. I told her to cut the cord he is 30 not 13. And she sent him 4 birthday cards in the mail so far. You think she is a little crazy?

wow... sounds like she is having some attachment issues? I am sorry you have to deal with that. I hope you guys can figure out a way to handle the situation...

Has your DH ever approached his mom about this stuff?

Yes I do think she's crazy. DH would die of embarassment if someone showed up with a cake on the job...never mind if it was his MOTHER.

I hope it goes better than I've imagined it for your DH's sake.
