MIL vent and breast feeding
I breastfeed my little girl and this morning I fed her at 8am. around 9am my baby girl started to get fussy and my MIL was holding her and she was saying to my baby "oh wow your stomach is grouling, you must not be getting enough food" I was standing within earshot, it really got me upset. My MIL is always saying that my baby doesn't get enough food cause I am breastfeeding, my ped says she is growing well and gaining weight so i know i am doing something right. What should i do, if anything??

I would sympathize with her ignorance. If she really pizzed me off I would tell her that the ped said she is gaining weight and thriving and until you see her medical degree, you are listening to your ped and not her.

Re: MIL vent and breast feeding
I do chalk it up to ignorance and old school mentality, it just gets frustrating. She swears that just because she has had kids that she is an expert. Don't get me wrong I don't mind advice, it's just she doesn't give advice she criticizes.

Re: MIL vent and breast feeding
Sorry to hear you are going through this. I think some of the older generation dont fully understand BF and as such they feel out of the loop and they like to blame BF on your babies cries when its more than likely something else thats causing your baby too cry...maybe your mil's perfume
My Mom and Dad were the same way when DD used to cry " do you think she is hungry" meanwhile I could have just stopped feeding her.
I dont know how young your baby is but I do know in the beginning I used to have to feed her a LOT as her tummy was so small she was only managing so much at one feeding. She also used to feed more when she was going through a growth spurt. So although I dont want to agree with your MIL, dont be surprised if she is hungry even if you only fed her an hour prior to that.
Sometimes Moms and Mils feel if they have the evidence of how many ounces they drank to go on they can count out the hunger thing but if the baby is BF they have nothing to go on and therefore thay suggest that your baby is hungry.
Sorry for rambling but I know where you are coming from and my advice would be to say "she is not hungry , I just fed her" and smile ...then sneak off to the other room to see if she is hungry

LOL...I am pretty sure my baby is going through a growth spurt. I always double check to make sure she isn't hungry, but always in another room

A lot of people dont understand BF and it can be frustrating. I have snapped back a few times "He's not hungry!" Sometimes babies cry. Keep at it, you are doing great thIng for your baby.

That use to happen to me and I would get so angry. People that are not accustomed or knowledge about Bf'ing seem to have alot of advice for us! It is true about the growth spurt! I would just feed him and then a little while later he would be hungry again!

Re: MIL vent and breast feeding
I am sure the noise she heard was your baby digesting her yummy meal is all It really aggravates me when people "think" they know what they are talking about with something they no experience in
You keep on nursing DD as I am sure she is healthy and thriving! Not like it will make a difference to MIL but just tell her DD is doing fine and then change the subject or walk away. DO NOT let her make you feel bad about breast feeding!!! You are doing great! Come here for support anytime
