Milk question.... ugh
Ok .... so I had my DD 9 days ago and still have not gotten my milk. I am bottlefeeding and planned on bottlefeeding from day one...BUT I feel like i'm defective! I've spoken with my SIL, Mom and 6 friends and all say they got theirs no later than day 4. No leaking, no swelling, no pain... no nothing! Is something wrong or has this happened to others?

Mine came in a few days later. Have you called your doctor? Everyone is different, It's probably on its way!

Re: Milk question.... ugh
I don't know if this is the case, but breastfeeding is all based on supply and demand. Is it possible that since you never nursed your child, your body just never produced milk...it only produced colostrum, but when there was no further demand, your body didn't go further?

Re: Milk question.... ugh
did baby get colostrum?? Did you BF at all even if you felt no milk come in?
My milk came in exactly 72hrs (3 days) after delivering...so the start of the 4th day...but I was BFing the day I delivered to give the baby the colostrum.

Re: Milk question.... ugh
I have a friend whose milk never came in. I don't think it's common but it can happen. At least you didn't have your heart set on BF'ing. If I were you I would be happy because drying up can be painful if you don't nurse!

Re: Milk question.... ugh
when DS was 3 days old, I started pumping while I was still in the hosptial. I got NOTHING until I was home , finally Day 6 my colustrum came in. it took another 10 days of colostrum and my milk FINALLY came in. If I were you, I would start pumping ASAP and see if anything happens. I could not BF bc Like I said there was nothing there , and DS was not going to stop screaming if I didn't feed him
