Milk transition
did you blend bottles or just give it straight up? How long did the "transition" take, or did you just switch to milk immediately?
suggestions?

Re: Milk transition
I blended the bottles - the ped told me do it for 1-2 weeks, but I did it longer than that - I wasn't ready to take her off formula completely - cause she wasn't eating alot of table food at the time (she was in a boycotting stage )
Anyway - I was making the bottles half formula, half milk.

Re: Milk transition
We blended them, as my daughter had a slight problem digesting milk. We replaced 1oz of formula with milk each week, so it took almost 2 months. If we did more than that she got diarreah.
Most people I know did half and half for a few days and then all milk.

Re: Milk transition
I wanted to say, if your child already has milk products in their diet, ie yogurt or cheese and has no problems, you might want to try going cold turkey.

She's been fine with milk products - eats lots of cheese and yogurt. And she's had straight up milk, just in small quantities (she loves to "share" our cereal )

Re: Milk transition
We tried going cold turkey and she would take 2 sips and refuse it.
So we did 50/50 with formula/milk or 50/50 with water/milk, been doing that for about a week. She will take it sometimes 75/25, but honestly, I am trying to use up all my formula in the house :)
My next challenge is to get her to give up the bottle and drink milk from her sippy, she will only drink water out of it right now.

Re: Milk transition
I did 1 oz at a time but we suspected Kevin was lactose intolerant (and were right) so it was in our best interest to go this route. By 3 oz - we were sure of our issue!! So I had to start over with the slow transition 1 oz at a time with soy milk and I think within 2 weeks were good to go.

Re: Milk transition
I blended the bottles w/milk and formula for 3-4 days - then she was transitioned to whole milk without a problem.
She did experience constipation when she was on whole milk - so we changed her diet a bit (added more veggies - mostly steamed, wheat etc....) and add about an ounce or two of water to her bottle now each feedings. Its helped.

Re: Milk transition
Went cold turkey with #1, but #2 had milk protein issues so we went more slowly, substituting 2 oz of milk for formula each day for three days.

Re: Milk transition
we just started making the transition...we are replacing an ounce of formula with milk every 3 or 4 days..I am going slow because she doesnt eat any table foods yet. Her bday is in 3 weeks..she will be completly on milk at that point.

Re: Milk transition
I tried blending and she would never finish the bottle. If I gave her straight formula or milk, she drank it all. So after a few blended bottles, we just went to milk cold turkey and had no problems.
