Mini Babymoon - Cape Cod? Providence, RI? Has anyone been?
Looking to take a long weekend babymoon in April, at the end of the school April break (DH is a teacher), so we're trying to avoid really kid-focused areas.
Qualifications: -needs to be within comfortable driving distance -would prefer someplace NEW to both of us (which is pretty much most of new england...we usually go south) -relaxing -pretty -things to see and do (don't want to just sit around in a lodge all weekend)
and that's about it!
We originally wanted to go to Wash DC, but due to the placenta previa, I'm not supposed to be walking excessively... and we're museum people, so we'd cram as much as we could fit into 3 days in DC and we'd definitely be walking a LOT! Sooo I guess Wash DC can wait.
From doing my own internet research, I think either Cape Cod or Providence would work nicely. Neither of us have ever been there, so we have no idea what to expect.
Any pros/cons? Suggestions on hotels/things to do/helpful tips, etc?
Thanks!!!

My family and I go to Cape Cod every summer. It is beautiful there. There is a lot of shopping to do, but that means a lot of walking. In the summer, there are tons of things to do there, but I am not sure about April. We've gone whale watching and sailing on many boats. We took a boat to Nantucket too. It was awesome.
I have heard providence is beautiful also. I would like to go there as well!
Not sure if this helped or not, but good luck!!!

Cape Cod is great, but you may find that restaurants and other places aren't open in April. A lot of the stuff is seasonal.
My brother and cousins went to college in Providence, and I don't know what I'd really do there for a weekend...To me there isn't really much to see and do, and I've been there many, many times. You could tie Providence in with Newport, but Newport could involve a lot of walking.

I'm thinking the same thing as you....
some friends have recommended Newport RI to me...I haven't looked into anything yet, but I'd like to cause our 4yr anniversary is in May so we could combine our anniversary and babymoon (trying to save some $$$)
If I ever do any research on this, I'll let you know

Researched more about Cape Cod and Providence, and its not something we'd like.
I'm really stuck here.... we'd be going the weekend of Easter (thurs 4/9, return on Sunday morning, the 12th)
I want to DO SOMETHING - Rich is no help at all. His only suggestion was Atlantic City... where he plays poker all night and I either sit in the room and watch movies or just wander around the smoke-filled hotel doing nothing. Um, no thanks.

This is EXACTLY what Brett wants us to do. I'm like, nice! Fun for the preggo lady too, right? I want to go to Cooperstown. He's like, why would you want to do that? How about Cooperstown? Have you been? I'm gonna take a guess that you have...

yup, we've done cooperstown. We both went to school upstate, so that's really nothing exciting for us. This is SO FRUSTRATING!!!

I'm sorry hon. Part of me is almost like, f- it, let's just get a hotel room in the city and hang out there. We love doing that anyway - it's been ages! Maybe do that? Go see a show or something?

People rave about New Hope, PA...not sure why or what's to do there (never been), but lots of people rave about it.

We're doing Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. It's kind of pricey, but it includes all meals. My issue is that even now at 26 weeks I am not walking as well/quickly, and it's so hard to find places that don't involve a lot of walking.

How about Hershey and Lancaster, PA.... i went to school there and there's a lot of nice things to do for a long weekend. and it's only about a 3.5 - 4 hour drive.
also, about Mystic, CT?
