Mini-Vans...some come with carseats built into the seats right? Feedback ?
My gf had a mini-van a few years back and I vaguely recall it having car-seats built into the seats
Is this something that is special order and if you have them , what type of mini-van do you have and what are your thoughts on them?
We are looking into buying a used mini-van , and just wanted to know what types of things we should be looking for and avoiding....

I don't know about mini-vans having them but I know that the Volovo SUV's and wagon have the option of buying them with the built in booster seat which is awesome! My friend has one and she loves it. It's basically the equivalent of a backless booster seat.

I don't know about newer models, but DH has a 2001 Chevy Venture and it has a built in car seat. He bought it used from his brother, so I don't know if it was a special order, but knowing my BIL, I highly doubt it.

I know the Chryslers have them built in (5 pt harness) standard (or used to). From what I've heard, you either love them or hate them.
I would make sure the vehicle has never been in an accident if you're buying used, even a minor one. If the vehicle has been in a crash you should make sure the harnesses were checked and replaced if necessary if in use, ditto for any seat belts
*this is actually something many body shops and people even overlook when they have a crash: Seat belts. The webbing of the belts are designed to 'give' a little bit and stretch. They don't pop back. If you're ever in a crash, any occupied seat belt should be checked for stretching/damage*

I've actually never heard of this... we have a 2007 Toyota Sienna. I don't recall it being an option.

Good point, I wasn't even thinking of this ...
So far none of the listings we have seen (haven't physically looked at any yet) have boasted the car/booster seat, so I wsn't even sure if it was still something that was an option on the newer models...
Thanks everyone!
