Mirena Question.. Period coming back all of a sudden?
On Mirena almost 2 years... after about 10 months on it I finally achieved the super-light, if any, period nirvana. Now, close to the 2 year mark, my period is back, it's much shorter (2-3 days) but feels more "normal" than the light spotting I've had lately.
I know "ask your Dr." but anyone have this experience? Any chance this means it's not as effective as it was before? I've never been able to locate the strings as a check...

you never felt the strings, have you been checked to make sure its in place? Mirena is good for up to 5 yrs. and sometime periods change due to the hormones.

I have Mirena...I've always said that if I had any change and couldn't check the strings (I never have tried...but it was confirmed to be in place more than once) I would go to the doctor ASAP to make sure it was still in place.

If you cannot locate the strings then you cannot be sure the IUD is still in place- the change in your period could be because the IUD came out-I would have your doctor check the placement of your IUD.

Re: Mirena Question.. Period coming back all of a sudden?
I had the minera for 5 years and never had a period. When I got it out after 5 years, my period came that very afternoon! Since you had nothing and now you're getting a period, I would definitely have it checked.
