Misoprostol/ Cytotec

I was about 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant this past thursday. I had an internal sono and blood work. My HSG levels were only 295 and the Dr. couldn't find anything on the sono. I went back friday to confirm this. Again there was nothing and my HSG only went up to 342. Saturday I had another appointment with my RE and he prescribed Misoprostol/ Cytotec 200mg. He doesn't think it is an eptoic pregnancy and that it is in the inner lining of my uterus and this pill should elminate it. I took it yesterday at 10am. (2 tablets by mouth on one side and then 30 mins later 2 tablets by mouth on the other side). I haven't had any bleeding yet just bad diarrhea. Has anyone taken this pill? Is it common to not bleed this many hours from taken it? Now it is 24 hours later. Thanks.

just wanted to say i'm sorry for your loss. i don't have experience with that drug but please be sure your doctor monitors you very closely for an ectopic. a couple of years ago, something similar happened to me and i was given a drug (can't remember the name now) to make me bleed. i never bled the way i was "supposed" to on it. i knew in my heart something was not right. a few weeks later, i had severe pains in my abdomen, rushed to the doctor and i was then diagnosed with an ectopic. i'm not saying this is the case with you but please follow your gut and please don't hesitate to push your doctors if you feel they could do more. are they going to do another beta??

thank you very much. i tried calling my RE today but they are closed. my next appointment is Tuesday, more blood work and another sono. i'm going to call them tomorrow if i don't have any bleeding.

When i took that, they gave me a prescription for 4 doses, I believe it was every 3 or 4 hours. It took till the 3rd dose for anything to happen with me.

I'm so sorry for your loss. When this happened to me, the Dr. insisted that I take this pill. So, I took them and waited hours and nothing happened. NOTHING. So I called the dr explained that nothing was going on. She brought me right in and she gave me a script for more. I explained to her that I really didn't want to go this route, I would really rather just have a D&C. (this was after she made me take the pills a week and a half after finding out baby had no heartbeat. On top of the 2 weeks I had to wait when baby originally had no heartbeat and they told me everything was fine, I just counted days wrong). I explained to her that I already mentally prepared myself for the day to be in pain and emotional and I dont want to re prepare myself. She pretty mush refused and told me to take the pills. So, I filled the script, took the pills and waited and waited. After about 6 hours I had a little bit of cramps and light spotting. And that was it. I called the dr. Next day and she finally made an appointment for D&C but stillwait me wait 5 days in case everything kicked in. So, basically I would never ever ever take these pills again. It made such a horrible, agonizing, emotional situation 100 times worse. I hope everything works out with you.

i'm so sorry you had to go through all that. i went back to my RE last week and he gave me the injection. it seems to be working. i'm spotting and clotting everyday. i go back monday to check my levels. i'm hoping they are going down.
