Missed periods
I would really like some answers to these questions. If anyone has gone through this or knows any thing about this, I would appreciate a response. TIA Thank you so much.
I have a friend that has been on BC for 9 yrs. She came off this past April. Her last period was also in April. She has not gotten a period since April.
She wants to know, is this normal?
Is it healthy not be getting a period? Should she be concerned? Or does it just take time for her period to start up again?
Does she still ovulate during these months that she is not getting her period? Can she get pregnant even though she is not getting her period?
She has been taking pregnancy test to make sure she is not pregnant, and they come back negative.

Re: Missed periods
First off, YES she needs to see her doctor because it is NOT normal to go for months at a time without getting your period.
It may take time for one's period to begin after coming off bcp, but it should not take 5 months!
It is likely that she has NOT been ovulating during those months - in which case she could not get pregnant.
She needs to see her doctor ASAP so he can give her something to bring on AF.
Best of luck to her!

Re: Missed periods
She should def go see someone. When I went of BC my dr told me to come back if i didn't get AF for 3 months...5 seems way too long! There is medication she can take that will help her to get her period...but they do it as a last resort...

Re: Missed periods
hi Ria -
I have to agree with the other girls on this one. She needs to seek medical help ASAP.
From what my doctor recently told me, birth control doesn't OVERLY affect your cycle and cause you to miss your period for months on end, after coming off of it. She told me that the only one that does is Depo Vera...

Re: Missed periods
it took 4 months for me to get my period after coming off the pill, but i was irregular before going on it. I did not ovulate until about 2 weeks before i finally got my period.
Now I'm on my second cyle off the pill- so far 46 days have gone by and no period. I thought i ovulated this month, but now it's looking like it's not likely.
I went to the Dr. and he examined me and found nothing wrong. So, I'll be going back in a month and if it's still irregular I may go to medication.
