Went missing off radar
The plane probably went down hard in the water and that is why they couldn't find any trace of it once it left the grid.

There was notification of the blame having electrical problems.
Thoughts are right now that turbulence (sp?) took it down or it was hit my lightning.
Anyone know how far out to sea a plane can be tracked?
At some point I'm thinking the plane was too far over the water to be picked up by radar on the mainlland.

from what I saw, the plane was traveling north up the coast of Brazil and just started flying over the open ocean when they reported the short circuit issue and seemingly lost contact.
it's awful awful awful. God Bless those people and their families.

Most like likely the plane went down in the water.
The US have agreed to try to find the plane via satelite.
I will have to ask my sister for "inside" info. She works for that airlines.

It can happen. My brothers best friend was in a plane crash 2 years ago and the plane was never found. The Coast Guard said it was because where they think the plane went down the water was too deep.

I don't understand how a plane could go down and there's no debris at all. I mean, if it crashed down into the water, I'm sure the wings and tail broke off and would be scattered in the ocean.

I heard this morning that they did find debris scattered in the water as well as fuel/oil floating on top of the water.
It was a huge area they were searching as they had no idea where the plane may have gone down.

The ocean is a big place and deppending on currents those pieces could be taken under in no time.
If the plane hit the water hard there won't be many large peices to spot from the sky.
