Missing my work best friend so much!
Leaving the job has been a great move; my second full day at the new place was great...but OMG....I miss my work buddy! We have become so close; we joke that we probably talk more in a day to each other than to our own spouses! I know I'll make new friends and will definitely see her still, but it's sad!!! I called her last night and she answered all: Is this my long lost friend???! Awww.........anyone leave a great friend at a crappy job?

Yeah, I did that 3 years ago. I still miss working with my friend! We still talk and get together when we can, which isn't as often as we'd like. I wish she worked with me at my current job, it would be a blast! Even though we don't spend as much time together as we did when we worked together I'm still glad I get to have her as a friend.

I hear you!!! Yeah, she's pregnant and I just wish I could see her progression more....she had a tough roud getting pregnant and I'm sad I can't see her everyday.

I did. I have really great friends that I left a crappy job for. But, 7 years later I still talk to them.

Many friends - that was the worst part about leaving! My "first" work friend is a friend on LIF so we still get to chat every day!

Me. I just started my new job last week, and I miss one of my friends at my old job terribly... I've been through this before though - it just takes some time to acclimate

I did... It was a guy. Actually the "one" that got away. I totally adored him. We went on a few dates, but never quite went through with a full blown relationship.
I miss him so much.

My Friend got laid off 4 years ago from our place. We got to be good friends outside of work too. I am so lonely without her there as I work with all guys now. She also moved to Colorado last August!

yea i did...but instead of being happy for me that i got a new job she got really pissy! i was shocked because we were really close...i even asked her to be in my wedding! she stopped returning my calls and our friendship just died, and obviously she stepped down as a BM. i guess its safe to say she wasnt a REAL friend.
dont worry lana...it'll get better soon and now you can make MORE work friends!!!!

At my old job, I had a great close knit group of 4 girlfriends. We did everything together, joke around at work, get lunch, go out after work. etc. Then one left, then another, then another, and then me. We all went to different places and now there's only one girl left at the old job. I definitely missed each of them as they left and was even more miserable when I started my new job and didn't know anybody. But we still go out to dinner at least once a month, or have lunch and we have even gone on vacations together. and bc we still all work in the same industry, we go to industry functions just to get see each other! They went from "work best riends" to my real life best friends. And now, at my "new" (2 years old actually) job, I have new work friends who have quickly become friends friends. It takes some time, but you will adjust and end up having more friends in the long run!

i have one now - she used to be in the cube next to me and she moved 2 cubes over and i feel like she is a world away. i cant imagine what it will be like when either of us actually leaves our jobs!! i will be so sad!

Yes, when I left my teaching job, I left my closest friend behind. We never talked on the phone but we so close. I can't even tell you the last time I talked to her on the phone. She even got pregnant and was supposted to tell me the sex of the baby and never called or e-mailed me when she found out.

yes, and we email at least twice a week & chat often. Every now and again she sends me a pic of herself at her desk so I remember what she looks like at work
