mitral vale prolapse
I was just diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. I know that it is very common. Did you take any special precautions during your pregnancy and delivery with this condition?

Re: mitral vale prolapse
I have it. I have done nothing really special for it except for antibotics before dental care. They would check my heart occasionally and told me to stay on top of my fluids.
Edited to add. I also had the worse prental care so It most likely depends on your doctor. I never got to see one unless I was in L&D for problems or after 16 hours of labor.

Re: mitral vale prolapse
I have MVP also. There was nothing special to do except during delivery they hook you up to IV antibiotics.

Re: mitral vale prolapse
I was diagnosed with it last week. I remember one doctor mentioning it when I was in college but no one said anything about antibiotics until the cardiologist last week. So I went through 2 pregnancies & births - I was hooked up on antibiotics on the 1st birth only because I was 6 weeks early. THe 2nd birth, I barely made it onto the L&D bed so no antibiotics on that one.
