Mold in basement any company recommendations
My husband just began working on our basement and it seems as though we have mold growing. Has anyone experienced this and have a company you would recommend to come and check it out? TIA

For our assistance program we have to do a visual lead based test and this guy is highly recommended since he is EPA certification and tests for Lead, Asbestos and Mold. But this is to tell how bad the mold is and your health not to help remove it. Envirotest, Inc
This person I heard about but no experience with Carbone Restoration

yea you might have to fix your drains on your roof if it's dumping rain water into your basement or put a subpump, french drain and sealant on your foundation (paint) its an expense but well worth it. The nightmare will be if you have cracks on your foundation that the water is coming in from that is $$$$$$$.

Re: Mold in basement any company recommendations
well, as the OP's mentioned... that's 2 issues... the water source and the mold.
For the mold, if it's only a small spot, spray clorox on it and scrub the concrete with a brush. Then rinse. If you have a finished basement, then you need to call the pros.
I will ask mom who she used to waterproof her basement. she had french drains and a pump installed. No more problems (My uncle used the same company, an he too had great results). It was though. she has a small (partial basement, the size of a large EIK) and it cost $12k

Re: Mold in basement any company recommendations
I would get someone in to test as others recommended. I have heard of Envirotest, though I've never used them.
Also, spray small amounts with bleach (wear a mask and gloves) and wipe away. Besides checking for leaks, you might want a dehumidifier. Ours sucks so much water out fo the air, and keeps the basement from getting funky.
