Mom to twins finally gets into the groove...

Hi all.. I had twins 4 months ago and cannot believe how difficult these first months have been. I also have a 4 years old girl and thought I was older and wiser this time around....and that new babies were going to be easier.

I can't believe how wrong I was. No parent can possibly understand the difficulty of handling two or more at a time unless they have done it themselves. I have enjoyed reading these posts and will continue hearing from "like-minded" folks like all of you.

My sons are Shamus Reagan and Theodore Joseph. Still tired, but defintely getting more sleep these days!!!!

Re: Mom to twins finally gets into the groove...

wanted to say congrats on yout twins. I agree taking care of twins is so much work, and the first 4 months I think are the toughest because of the lack of sleep and getting them on schedule.
It does get easier as they become more independent.

Hi and welcomeChat Icon

My twins are my first, most moms on the board are first (and immediately secondChat Icon ) time moms, so I can't say that I know any different from raising a singleton. I think there is just an added dimension to caring for twins... sure you are doing twice the care (bottles, diapers, laundry, etc.) but there is a bit more "strategizing" (for lack of a better termChat Icon) as well... feeding two at the same time, coordinating nap times, etc. with two distinct personalities.
Sometimes you have to practice triage... My DS cracks me up. He loves to poop just as I am trying everything under the sun to get DD to burp mid feeedChat Icon I think he plans it that wayChat Icon Chat Icon

Just me but I think balancing a 4 yr old and twins would be more challenging. I'm sure you are doing a great jobChat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: WOW, they are handsomeChat Icon Chat Icon
Now Shamus Reagan... he's not a lil bit Irish is he?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for your nice words. It's true, the juggling is completely different than when my daughter was a baby.

wish I could say we're Irish. Could you believe these kids are Italian, German and Puerto Rican? I just like the Irish names!

Re: Mom to twins finally gets into the groove...

sooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the reverse---these two are easier for me..i had irish twins and dd had such severe colic i wanted to jumpan for. If after 4 months it gets easier i am really home free!
I also love the irish names...
I love love Dellaney, Fiona and Kerrigan for a girl.
Only problem -I am having//one loves to sleep and one never ever does...so that makes life troublesome at times...
again---they are soooooooooooooo cute

Congrats! They are gorgeous!!! You made through the tough time...the first four months was a big adjustment for me also. Things get so much better, as you get your routine down and you feel more comfortable with day to day things. As they get older, they will start to keep each other company and that is such a joy to experience!

Best of luck and keep us posted on your adorable baby boys!
