Mommies of 5-6 months old...lets talk
POOP...
My son eats solids 2x a day (2 tblsps of cereal or oatmeal), a jar of fruit and a jar of veggies. He takes a bottle when he wakes up, a bottle at around 2pm and a bottle before bed time.
His poop has been rather consistent, mainly because he's been eating solids. My SIL asked me if it maybe should be a little more loose. While I don't think so, I'm curious what your children's poop is like and what are they eating...what a queestion lol.
Thanks

Hi Sylvia!
Charlie is getting 2 tablespoons (or maybe 3 sometimes) of cereal and a whole jar/container of stage 1 food twice a day....and four 7oz bottles with one tablespoon of cereal in them. I use his bottles to make the meal/cereal too.
His poop is not loose at all but its also not logs Actually, its pretty much the consistency of the cereal that I make for him... which I make kinda thick (thicker than applesauce) Yuckie question gets yucky answer!!

I have a question for you,
you only give 3 bottles? How many oz's in each? what time are you giving the meal and what time are the bottles? OK maybe that was 3 questions

Re: Mommies of 5-6 months old...lets talk
Parker is 5 months. He is taking 2 tbls of cereal 3x a day now. and a jar of food a day (fruit or veggie)
but I had to start putting two baby spoonfuls of prunes into his cereal because he was getting very constipated, I felt so bad for him, but the prunes seem to be helping, and its a mushier consistance now. I also now stick with the oatmeal, no rice.

I give him 3 8 oz. bottles (6-7am, 2pm, and 7pm)...he seems satisfied with the solids at his 11am feeding, then at 4 we give him a jar of fruit and at 6:30 the cereal again. He sleeps through the night so he seems to be satisfied to me.
His poop I could say is the consistency of artichoke dip lol

My DS is 6 mos. We just started oatmeal last week (and not much of it - just 2 tablespoons perday) so not sure if this will be much help to you. His poop is still pretty loose. However, for the first time we had a few days of no poop at all since starting solids

DS had hard poop when he ate string beans. Other than that it is loose.

Re: Mommies of 5-6 months old...lets talk
DD is 7 months old. She is BF and has 4 4-5oz bottles of BM or formula when Im at work and eats about 3 jars of fruits and veggies a day, no cereal.
Her poop is kinda pasty which I am not happy with and she seems to have to push a lot sometimes to get it out. To conteract this I feed her plums, prunes or pears once a day. I actually found that the more puffs or teething biscuits she has (carbs) the harder her poop is. I have also started to give her 1 oz pear juice with 1 oz water at dinner to hopefully help as well. Unfortunatly my oldest DD had lots of consitpation issues so I am trying to proactivly help the little one now before it gets worse.

Re: Mommies of 5-6 months old...lets talk
My DS's poops are just starting to get pastier like real poop. He eats barley in the morning(around 8-9) and I try and give him Oatmeal in the pm (around 7). He takes 3 or more teaspoons at the time and has had 1/2 a banana the past couple days. He def. seems to struggle a little more with pooping since the solids. I personally think he's like his DH and is a complainer at the slightest bit of discomfort. So I don't feed him prunes or anything.

Re: Mommies of 5-6 months old...lets talk
I've noticed poop has become less loose with solids.
Moms with babies that eat solids 2x a day how many ounces do they drink w/ the solids?

My baby is 5 months. Babies should be getting I believe, at least 24 ounces of breast milk/formula in addition to the food. At this age, the milk is more important than food consumption.

Re: Mommies of 5-6 months old...lets talk
DS has very liquidy poop b/c he is on Mylanta. We expect the addition of food to change that but we just started. The "nice" part about going to a GI doctor is that they actually look at his poop from a saved diaper and I get comments about it so I know if it is okay. I think it is a legit. question to ask a Dr. how the poop should be. As Dana said, I don't think logs would be good.
