Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
what are you doing when they wake up crying?
DD goes right back to sleep when we rock her. I know I shouldn't but I feel terrible knowing she's so exhausted from waking up so many times and coughing.
And it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.....

It depends. Sometimes Sara wakes up becaue she is too wet. i will change her and she goes right back to sleep. Most of the time I just pat her back and that works. On occassion I will rock her only becaue I want to cuddle her . I love when she sleeps on me even it is 3AM.

We either soothe her or Dh brings her into bed and cuddles her.

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
I go in and rock her back to sleep. 3 times last night. It's not her norm so I know it's because she isn't feeling well and something is causing her to wake up so I would feel guilty not going in to comfort her.

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
I used to bring him into bed with us but although I LOVED it I knew I was creating a hard habit to break. So now I check on him and if he's fine (not wet, not tangled in the blanket, etc) I let him CIO. It's hearbreaking but it worked for us. After 2 days of CIO he now doesn't wake or if he does he puts himself back to sleep.

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
Well, normally if he wakes, I put his binky back in his mouth and let him CIO. I don't pick him up, say a word, give him a bottle or anything. He goes back to bed most of the times right away or wihtin 10 minutes. The more I stimulate him, the longer he will be up.
But for the past 2 days he has a cold with a BAD runny nose and he is severely congested. I have had to use the boogy sucker on him so he can use his binky (he could only breathe through his mouth b/c of the congestion) and since he becomes HYSTERICAL with the boogy sucker DH was rocking him for a few minutes so he calmed down.
ETA: Ryan is 9 months now.

I have no idea how to comfort Noah in the night, so usually I give him a bottle of milk, about two weeks ago he was waking up and drinking 10 oz of milk...thats two bottles! Luckily at the moment (knock wood) he is sleeping through...

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
Emily just started waking up again recently. She's screaming her head off --- usually at around 3am. Last night we took her into bed with us. I had to make sure that I didn't fall esleep so deep that my alarm clock would go off though before I turned it off, so I was up extra early and DH is still in there sleeping with her. Normally we wouldn't do this on a night that I had to go to work the next day because I was afraid of waking her in the morning when my alarm clock went off, but we were both exhausted last night from her not going esleep on top because she was hysterical then too, so we had to just do it so we could get some sleep!

DD has been waking recently too, not sure why but I usually just make sure she has her lovie and that's it, she will either fall back to sleep, cry a little or like last night she kept putting on the aquarium with that damn music!

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
I usually give her 10 minutes. If she hasn't gone back to sleep at that point I will go in and make sure all is ok (she isn't cold, wet, sick, etc...) as long as all is ok I cuddle her for a few then put her back down. I only use a bottle on absolute desperate occassions.

I give her the pacifier. She usually goes right back to sleep This works for us too and after a few minutes if for some reason it didnt work, we then would bring her back to our bed.

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
DD is 3 months old, and luckily, she rarely wakes at night. If its before 3 am, I give her the pacificer & she goes right back to sleep. If its between 3 am and 5 am I figure she might be hungry so I try the pacifier or BF her. She always goes right back to sleep.
Our problem is getting her to sleep at bedtime.

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
The paci would work in the past, but the past two months or so she really wants to be consoled/rocked, so that's what we've resorted to for now. She wakes usually once during the night, the times are random, and I have been just comforting her a bit & then taking her into bed w/ me if all else fails. I hate to have it be a habit but I need some sleep and so does she.

Re: Mommies w/ babies that are waking at night.....
Nicholas is 6 months and I give him his binky when he wakes up, he usually falls right back to sleep. If he continues to wake up, (I give it 3x), then I give him his bottle cause I know he is hungary.
