Mommies who make own baby food
I read that steaming is the best way to prepare the veggies. what should I be using to steam? Can I use a rice cooker? how much water should I use? I really have no clue
Thanks for any advice/tips

I have no idea how to use a rice cooker.... Never had one....
I just use a steamer.... Throw in the water until it just comes under the steamer. Then put whatever you are steaming in, and let it cook COVERED for 20 minutes.
After that, you take it out, and puree it using whatever cooking apparatus you prefer. My choice is the magic bullet. Works wonderfully!
A steamer like this is what I use:

we do the same exact thing... and if you need any extra liquid when you are pureeing everything just use the water that is still in the pan... so far we have steamed broccoli, carrots, pears, apples, peas some things you can bake such as sweet potatoes and squash... that keeps the most nutrients in... peaches and plums you can just blanch real quick
