Mommies who work F/T
I am thinking about going back to work f/t since money is getting tight with me being home.
How do you do it? Don't you feel like you never see your child?

Re: Mommies who work F/T
I've been working F/T all along. Caiden was 6 weeks old when I had to go back to work. You have your bad and good days. I do miss the kids a lot, but financially I have no choice. That's also why Caiden has a later bedtime. I don't get home from work and picking them up from daycare until around 6:00pm so by the time I get home I only have a couple of hours with them. Caiden's bedtime is around 9-9:30pm just for that reason alone. Like I said, it's hard but you do what you have to to make ends meet.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
I do miss her so much, but I also like getting out of the house.
I stayed home for 4 months. I pick her up from daycare by 4, but she has a later bedtime too.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
It's hard to juggle everything, but from the minute I pick him up until he is asleep it's all about him. Mornings before work too, we get our play time in. I try to make sure it's all quality time. I do like having adult time and the freedom of a lunch hour. It can be done, it's just another adjustment, once you have the routine down it's fine.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
I leave here when she's sleeping, she's home with JT all day, then I spend from 3pm-7pm with her all by myself while JT goes to work. Do I feel like I am missing out on a lot? Yes and no. Somedays, I feel like I can't get out the door fast enough in the mornings, and others I feel like crying when I leave. I love my job, and I'm not willing to give up that part of me because as much as I love Ava, too, it's important for her to have a happy mommy. And working makes me happy. I still have all summer with her, every weekend and school holiday, so I do get to spend a lot of time with her. It's just my reality, and I have pretty much made peace with it because even if I wanted to stay home, it's not an option for me.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
the first week I cried everyday, but it does get better. There are still some days I get upset about it still, but I have no other option. But I'm a teacher so my hours are really good. I just rush home to him everyday and spend every minute with him until bedtime. Overall, I spend 6 hours of quality time with him a day which isn't too bad. He usually naps 3-4 of the 7 hours I'm gone anyway.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
I know teaching is the best option, but I can't find a job anywhere!!! I am so tempted to go back into either accounting or admin, however, I really don't want to work 9-6.
I need a teaching job!!!!

That is how I feel too. I just make the most of our time together. I think about her a lot at work and surround myself with pictures of her.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
I enjoy working FT. Even though I don't spend all day with him anymore, it makes my time with him so much more special. There are good days and bad days, but overall I don't think he's missing out on us working.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
It is hard adjustment, but after a few months the routine falls into place and now we make every minute together quality time. It is nice to have some adult time and I love to see her thriving from being around other kids as well.

I agree with this. When I get home, it is Michael & mommy time. I give him a bath and put him to bed.

Re: Mommies who work F/T
It's definitely a lot of hard work... I returned to work when DS was 4 months... I don't feel like I miss anything. He does go to bed about 10 so that helps with us spending quality time together...
But I love how his face lights up when i get home from work... It's like I wasn't gone at all...
It will be rough in the beginning, but that makes up for it!
