mommys that have toddler kids in dancing school- come in...
My DD started dance class today- its a beginner class for 2-3 y/o. I knew it wasn't mommy and me and I was ok with that and my daughter is ok with it BUT I didn't get to see anything. Is this the norm? I mean they took all the kids and shut the door and the window was frosted so couldn't see anything. They said they find it works better otherwise the kids gets distracted etc. She was FINE, she is not a clingy kid, but it was more for ME. I wanted to see how she interacts, how the kids interact with her, what they are teaching her, how the teacher was etc. I know its only the first class and I know she is only 2..but this is how I was feeling. Can you tell me the practice in your school if you don't mind! TIA

That's how it is..
I would take DD and there was a glass window separating us and they would pull the curtain shut whenever they started so the parents wouldn't distract the kids..

My DD has been in dance since she was 2 and went to 3 different schools between us moving. The 3 schools I wasn't able to see in.
The school she has been at for 3 years now, you can't see in...but the last 5 minutes of class, you go in and watch them do a little dance.

Mads just started ballet and while the glass isn't frosted, they have signs everywhere telling us to not peek in as it distracts the dancers as well as the instructors.

My DD went to a dance school that didn't have a separate waiting area, so we were sitting right next to the dance floor...it was very distracting for the kids. In their new dance school, there are closed circuit televisions that broadcast the dance classes into the waiting room.

Chloe just started dancing school. Her dancing school has a window you can look in but it is shaded with a screen. It also has tv's for parents to view all classes. I really LOVE it!
I totally can see how you feel, that set-up, wouldn't work for my liking.

Re: mommys that have toddler kids in dancing school- come in...
Oddly enough, I remember being 3 and in dancing school. I was the youngest in the class and I remember crying a lot
My grandmother cared for me and she was the type to say "suck it up" ... yes to even a 3 year old.
I remember being so embarrassed when they let all the parents in, in the end, I didn't want all these people to see me.
Its so bizarre how reading this post made me remember this.
But yeah, even then they don't let the parents in, till the end. You'd think they'd invest in one way mirrors or something so you can see your kid.

The class dd took had lass so you could see the kids. But they didn't like the parents to watch as it is distracting. Honestly the instructor did t quite have control over the class 100% of the time so me waving to my dd wasn't the whole problem.

It's the same at our school too. They do let the parents in the last 5 minutes to see them dance.

Re: mommys that have toddler kids in dancing school- come in...
Thanks everyone! Yes they let us in too the last 5 minutes (but the didnt today for some reason...first class )
I guess I will see how it goes. I just feel at 2 y/o she is not going to be able to express to me if she really likes it, or if something is bothering her etc, so I just thought for me to accurately asses if this is worth it, I need to be observing her.
I guess I am just a crazy OCD mommy and should enjoy the 35 min in the waiting area and drink my coffee in peace!!!
(But I am soooo OCD paranoid, that I wont!! )
