Moms of 2 + kids, more stressed about maternity leave ending 2nd time?

I have a 2 1/2 yr old DS and 4 mo old DD.

My maternity leave ends soon. First day of work will be Jan. 3rd and I've have been anxious for the last 2 weeks, in tears, and having nightmares every night.

With DS, I was fine going back to work, and the transition was relatively easy.

maybe it was bc DS#1 was a really difficult baby, and DD is an angel. A mellow, happy baby that is no work whatsoever. She smiles and goes nuts when she sees me and is just laughing and playing all day.

or maybe it is bc DS is a real person now and has become my little buddy. We hang out every day and he has blossomed right in front of me. We are inseparable and he is such a momma's boy now.

maybe it is bc this is the 2nd time around and I know what I am going to be missing with DD while I am at work.

maybe it's the stress of getting out of the house with 2 kids, getting one to daycare, and waiting for the nanny for DD, and then the stress of getting home, and the whole nighttime routine.

but mostly, it's the thought of only seeing my precious DS and DD for 1-2hrs a day after having spent 4 1/2 mos home with them.


ugggghhhh, just venting.

Aww, I'm right there with you. My kids are 2.5 and 5 months-and I go back at the end of Jan, I'm already having major anxiety-for all of the same reasons you listed. It stinks.

I hated going back to work after my last maternity leave and hate leaving my kids home without me. And hate my DH for me not being able to be a SAHM. Thankfully with my work i am able to do alot of work from home so i really only miss 2 days away from them now. IT does get better, but it's still hard to leave them every morning.

I'm a teacher and went back to work the week if thanksgiving. DD was 8 weeks and 3 1/2 years old. It was much harder the 2nd time and I really can't explain why. I'm lucky I gave a job where I get summers and holidays off and my mom watches DD. But not a day gies by I am not racked with guilt about leaving them and not being able to spend more time with them. But I know I'm working so we can give them the best we can, but it doesn't make leaving easier! You are not alone. Good luck

Im such a reluctant working mom so I get what you mean. Youll be in a routine before you know it though!

OMG, she is so good I sometimes wonder if I should call the pediatrician bc she is napping too much or too happy!

This kid rarely cries! It's like a whole new world. She doesn't sttn yet but I don't even care because she is sooooo good during the day.

So, yes, there is hope for you too!!!!
