did you giveyou DC a present from you when the baby was born? If so, did you give it to them in the hospital or at home and what was it? TIA!

Re: Moms of 2 or more

I am ridiculous but.. we had a 'big brother' party for Robbie about a week before my scheduled c-section. It was only me, Rob, Robbie and my mom - but we had balloons and cake. We wanted him to know his new title 'big brother' was extremely important. I don't remember everything - but he got some goodies including a 'doctor in training' set of scrubs that he wore to the hospital to meet his new brother, a "I'm the Big Brother" tee shirt, his own baby doll to take care of (we didn't know the sex of the new baby, but we got a boy doll because Robbie was a boy), a book about becoming a big brother and a couple of cheap-O little toys for him to play with (Shovel and pail, bubbles, etc.). My mom took him to the park afterwards so she could spend some alone time with him and assure him that she was still going to be his Uma and do special alone things with him sometimes.

I think it worked - to this day he takes his 'job' of being a big brother very seriously. Sometimes TOO seriously to the point that he thinks he is a parent! "Noah! Don't touch that!" or "Noah, I will get you a drink but it's going to be milk or water because you should not drink so much juice"Chat Icon

Yes, I gave my dd a bunch of small presents and they were given to her when I was home. I gave her a doll that she could feed so when I was feeding ds she wouldn't feel so left out. I bought a bunch of coloring stuff for us to do together when the baby was sleeping. I bought her some books to read to her while I was feeding the baby. I bought her stuff to either mimic what I was doing with the baby or something special for us to do with our alone time.

We gave Julia a few things when the baby and I came home from the hospital, she got a lot of gifts from friends and family when they came to visit me in the hospital too.

We got her some big sister books, and princess toys that she wanted.
