Moms of 2y/o+... kinda long ? about bruise..

My son will be three in March.. since he was about 18 months he has had a "bruise" on his back.. its not truly a bruise, but its the easiest way of describing this. its just slightly darker, almost like a bruise that has a few days left before it disappears.. KWIM? It has been on his back in the SAME spot now for about 18 months. No reason it appeared, andit has lightened and darkened but none significantly.

Before we moved from NY our Dr saw it and said nothing about it, just that when we moved down here to make sure to show our new ped...

I have been to the "new ped" about three times in the year we were here. He checked it out last time we were there, and said if it doesnt disappear in a few months to go back to him.

Its still not gone. Has anyone ever heard of something like this before.. I cant find anything online.. Its not causing him pain, or painful to the touch.. None of the Dr.s have been overly stressed.. but I am starting to get worried now. TIA

could it be a birth mark that just darkened over time??

danielle was born with a birth mark on her leg that was barely visible. but as time passed, it became darker. it's actually in the shape of a heart...kinda cute.

its about an inch and a half from the top of a pullup diaper.. on his spine. And only appeared about the time he turned 18mos.

He was a little.. Active, for lack of a better phrase, and we thought that it may just be a bruise from a bump or bang, lol... and it has just never completely disappeared...

I would just take him to a dermatologist.. im sure they can tell you what it is.

I agree - go with the dermatologist - it's their speciality.

Probably nothing but the peace of mind is worth it.

Does it look like this? This is pretty extreme picture but Ryan has this. Its called mongolian spots. Ryan has this but we noticed them about 6 mnths and they are fading. They are nothing to worry about.

Mongoliam spots, they are very common and look like bruising, my girlfriend's daughter has one on her foreheadm as she got older it faded a bit, but when she gets heated, or cries it gets darker, for your own reassurance go tot he derm, but it definitely sounds like a mongolian spot.

Caiden has a "bruise/blueish" area at the top part of his butt crack. It's always looked that way since he was born. The doctor said it's nothing to worry about though he never said what it was.

Its kinda hard to describe, so I took a few pics..its kinda that yellowish brown color that bruises turn RIGHT-BEFORE-THEY heal... Only catch is it has NEVER disappeared..


Today actuallyits kinda lighter... but its about an inch or so up from the top if his diaper!

it doesn't even look like mongolian spots it just looks like his pigment is different in that area, I have the same color patch on my lower belly anout the size of a dime, it is skin discoloration from a birthmark.
there isn't a bump under it i there?

I have a spot on my forearm that sounds like this - I've had it as long as I can remember and it does look like a bruise a little - mine is just a birthmark.
