Moms of 4-6yr old boys

What is your son getting for Christmas?

I have NO CLUE what to get DS...

He asked for a DS- which he is not getting..

He asked for a workbench- which Im still searching for..

He asked for a buzz & woody guitar- which santa is brining...

and he asked for some foam tool thing- which Santa is also bringing..

I bought him a few books and work books; but other than that- I feel that I dont have anything for him...

Re: Moms of 4-6yr old boys

Honestly, I'm with you on the DS. I got Jack one (because I got one for Ava) and he's really not into it. I think its too much for him and should have just gotten the v-tech mobi-go. It looked really cute and was much easier to use.

I went to the Disney store and got Jack a Buzz Lightyear coat and sneakers, some character tshirts, a Handy Manny tool set, character pajamas, cars slippers, workbooks, coloring books, a regular book or two.

I'm keeping it simple but also he's a November birthday too and my mom goes crazy so I need to keep it simple or my house is going to explode at the seams lol.

We also are holding off on the DS (5.5 years old). it's going to be tough, since his 4 yo cousin is getting one, but I will try to hold him off until his bday in June.

He is getting Mario Galazy 2 (for Wii, which should make up for DS)

a green machine

mario plush toys

mario slippers (do you see a trend?)

underwear and socks Chat Icon (I want to keep the something you need tradition)

and a few big lego items he requested.

DS will be 5 in March.

He doesn't have any sort of "video game" toy right now (i.e. DS/Leapster/Mobigo), but I was planning on getting him one (probably Leapster Explorer) plus a game or two for his 5th birthday. For Christmas, he's getting--

- Home Depot brand toolbox that folds out to a little workbench (he has been asking about this for a while)
- Hess truck and jet
- Connect 4 (he played it at someone's house and really liked it)
- Glow in the dark planets for his bedroom (another thing he's been asking about)
- Bug vacuum (looks like a gun, but it "sucks up" bugs... he saw it in Toys r Us and asked for this)
A few other small things like arts and crafts supplies...

Grandma and Grandpa are getting him Magnatiles because I think he will LOVE them, he loves any kind of building toys. They're also getting him a RC car.

Re: Moms of 4-6yr old boys

I have an 8 yr old boy so we have a lot of boy stuff already, it gets to be challenging with my 4 yr old. But this year he is getting:

Batman trio block set
Imaginext space station (he wants a dragon castle but he already has a castle so I am not getting another)
Vtech kidizoom camera/video - my DD had the same one in pink and it is cute & durable
Scooby zoo mystery machine & 5 figurines
toy story leapster game
gumball machine bank
toy story space shooter game

I saw a workbench at Toys R Us for $50 - it was the home depot one. Not sure about the quality, but TRU has on line reviews so I'd check that before buying. I thought about it for my DS too but I don't have room for anything larger.

The foam wood & tool set is cute, my 8 yr old wanted it for his bday and it works well.

ETA:

DS got the new Hess truck from my DH's firehouse Santa - it's cute but very noisy.

Another favorite of my 4 yr old is the marble run set. I know they sell it at toyrs r us - he plays with it constantly. My SIL has one at her house from when my adult niece & nephews were kids and he plays with that one all the time too.

I read some reviews on the Mansion and they were awful, everyone said it doesn't stay together. I got my DS the mystery machine only (and the characters)

The space shuttle sounds like an awesome idea; especially if he could put buzz light year in it...Chat Icon

Amazon & TRU have them. Though TRU is mostly out of stock and amazon has ridiculous prices.

good selection at:
chugshop.com
chuggington.com

Re: Moms of 4-6yr old boys

I saw a workbench at Costco - I think it was Black & Decker with some tools.

I got DS (who is 5) -

two Lego sets
books
wooden blocks (he loves building things)
a dump truck and cement mixer (comes with a hardhat and some tools for playing in the sand - I'm sure DS will use them to play in the dirt - he loves that)
a travel crayon and chalk set (fabric - has paper and a small chalkboard and zips up)
Orbeez
tool set

Not even sure what else we have - we still need to shop some more

Just wanted to say that my five year old son received the Scooby-doo Mystery Machine and the characters for Hanukkah and loves it.

Another gift he loves cost only $5 . . . a nerf basketball and matching hoop. He and my husband have been playing one on one in our finished basement every night.

My son is 5.5 yrs old (almost 6). He is all about Star Wars and Sports stuff. Last Christmas was all superheroes and Playmobil. Funny thing is my 3 yr old has almsot the same list - he wants what big brother wants.

So far he is getting from santa:
At At (Star Wars his "big gift")
2 star war space ships
2-3 Star War figures
1-2 Superhero figure
Razor Sparks scooter and helmet
Operation
Aqua Sand
Make your own calendar
Book about the human body and systems (he loves science type stuff too)
A few other smaller things and stocking stuffers

To share with his 3 yr old brother - Imaginext Air craft carrier and a couple planes.

Other ideas from what I hear other people are getting him: fishing pole, Hess truck (to share with brother), big boy legos, remote control star war ship, star war blaster, some spy stuff.

His birthday is Feb 1st and I plan to buy him the Dsi. He isn't really asking too much for it but I think it is time to move him up from the leapster and pass the leapster on to his brother who loves it so much but never gets to use it. I want some one to buy him his own tennis racket to since he loves tennis and has a trainer but uses his daddy's old one since he likes a full sized one better.
