Moms of 5-6 moth olds-Feeding Schedule

I feel like DS is eating too often. He only does 4-5oz at a time but seems to eat every 2-3 hours still. He's on Neocate so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. I think we mistake other signs for hunger because he is so fussy.

Can you share your schedule with me?

My DS is dong the same, he only eats about 5oz, occasssionally 6 oz and eats about every 3-4 hours. We just started feeding him cereal 2x a day & this has been helping a little bit.

ETA: he is 4.5 months old & eat about 5-6 times a day depending on whether or not he sleeps through the night. most nights he does, but some nights he still wakes up for a bottle.

At that age, DD had 6oz of breastmilk every three hours. She wouldn't take rice cereal or oatmeal although I tried to give it to her.

DD takes five 6 oz bottles a day and half of a stage one fruit 1 x day. I also put 4 teaspoons of rice cereal in her last bottle before bed. She gets a bottle every 3 hrs but if I offered her one every 1/2 hour she'd probably take it. She always seems hungry.

MY DD is on neocate and eats like a maniac..i would say some days she eats less more often and others she usually eats 8oz every 4 hours..meaning about 40 a day..!!!!! Initally, my DD was fussy for weeks on neocate and now she is alot better! I am feeding cereal and pears so that helps too!

Re: Moms of 5-6 moth olds-Feeding Schedule

My DD is 6.5 months old. She is on Similac Sensitive RS formula. Her feeding schedule is:

- 1 Tbsp oatmeal and a Stage 1 fruit, along with about 3 oz formula for breakfast

- 3 hours later she has 7 oz bottle formula

- 3 hours after that, she has about 7 oz of formula

- 3 hours later for dinner, she has a Stage 1 veggie and a 1/2 Stage one fruit and about 3 oz of formula

- 3 hours later, at bedtime she takes about 6 oz. bottle [I offer her 7-8 oz but she usually only takes 6]

HTH!! I have no idea if that is good or not! Chat Icon I will be feeding her solids 3x per day once she hits 7 months though. I was told as long as she is taking in at least 20 oz. of formula plus her solids per day, she is fine. Chat Icon

ETA: I am about to drop her 4th bottle because she doesn't really need it or seem very interested in it either!

Thanks for the replies.
The doctor wrote our order for 30oz of Neocate a day, so that's what we got from Apria so I was assuming that is all he needs but really I think he's more like 34-36oz a day.
He's not a tiny guy. I'm sure he's about 16lbs. I guess I can call and ask for an increase in our order. Chat Icon

Re: Moms of 5-6 moth olds-Feeding Schedule

That's about right. My baby was eating 6 ounces at 5 months every three hours or so, sometimes less. He's 6 and half months and now eats 7 ounces at most feedings
