Re: moms of 8-10 months old

He's almost 11 months and he:

clap when you say "clap hands"? When I ask him to clap, he picks up my hands and claps them. He won't clap his own.

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? Looks around. He's actually better at "Where's XXXX?", XXXX being the dog or the cat.

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? 75%

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they? He says dada, but it's all over the place sometimes.

does your dc wave hi and/or bye? Yes, both.

does your dc mimic you? if so how? We have this fake laugh and if I do it first, he'll do it back to me. Also, if I click my tongue or he hears the blinker in the car, he'll click his tongue. Lately, if I stick out my tongue, he'll do it back.

Re: moms of 8-10 months old

clap when you say "clap hands"?
Yes
when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? Depending on his mood he'll either look for us or repeat mama, dada.

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? If he is not "into" something, he usually acknowledges his name right away. Depending on what he is concentrating on, it can be 3 - 4 times before he responds.

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they? he says mama & dada, he is beginning to say Nana, Baba (for his bottle) and Puh (for the gazillion puppies in my, ILs and Moms house -- all 7 of them. He is also trying to say "BWah" with I think his for his Godfather, and BIL Brian. He also says Hi and Bye when he feels like it.

does your dc wave hi and/or bye?
He does an American wave & a "ciao" wave that his nonna taught him
does your dc mimic you? if so how? OMG he does everything we do. He blows kisses, pretends to write when we are writing bills or lists, he pretends to drive when we are in the car, he also pretends to snore when DH naps on Sundays after the raceChat Icon . He mimics the dogs too, like he is barking. He also sings melodies along with the songs he hears on TV or on the radio. He also dances if he sees someone dancing, and chews when he sees us eating. He is a pip!

BTW, he is 9 mos. He has been doing most of these things for about a month or so.

clap when you say "clap hands"?
Sometimes - but much more often she will clap when she is happy or others are clapping or singing.

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do?
90% of the time if she isn't preoccupied with a toy she will look at whoever you ask her to but doesn't point. She has been doing that since December - she also can look to the correct cat when asked where is Chloe or where is Mikey? She will do it with her back to you so I know she isn't doing it by cues and they are on opposite sides of the room.

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)?
She answers me about 85% of the time - a lot of that has to do with whether she is concentrating on a toy or not- for others (DH or my mom) she responds right away - I think she just ignores me some of the time

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they?
mama and mommy, dada, cat (but only when she is excited and the cats are right there in front of her - we have two and she LOVES them.)

does your dc wave hi and/or bye?
she does both

does your dc mimic you? if so how?
I sing a lot to her and she will make sounds that friends and family say sounds like she is trying to sing with me but I can't say for sure. She will make the same faces my DH makes right back at him.

clap when you say "clap hands"? Just started doing it so not really on cue. When she wants to.

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? She looks at us or looks for us.

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? Most of the time or always.

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they? Herc-our dog, cookie, Mama, Dada.

does your dc wave hi and/or bye? Yes, both.

does your dc mimic you? if so how? Not really...Kisses is about it.

We ask her, where is the light and she points to it.

I havent really tried asking him where mom or dad is, I shoudl try and see what happens...

hmm responding to his name - most of the time, about 80-90%

meaningful words - none yet

no waving

he mimics some of the faces that we make, I cant take a nice picture now cause he is making faces constantly Chat Icon

Clap when you say "clap hands"? No - he doesn't do it often but more and more he seems to be associating it with things...like when he finishes eating and we clap he claps to (we only clap to make him clap...frankly I slave over his food so he should eat it Chat Icon )

When you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? He tends to look more towards me when you ask where mommy is but in general he just looks up.

What about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? I would say 80% of the time.

Can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they? Nope - dada is his standard otherwise nothing much.

Does your dc wave hi and/or bye? He is starting to wave bye but it's not consistent.

does your dc mimic you? if so how? Sometime...mostly facial expressions. I cracked my knee on his highchair and winced...he did the same thing back which was hysterical. Now he does it to make me laugh which I just adore.

clap when you say "clap hands"? He doesnt clap his hands but he does do something else which is similar. When I tell him no, no, no and hit my own hand he comes over to me and hits my hand to mimic me.

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? He looks around when I say where is daddy. And sometimes he will say "Dada". He also says "baba". But I dont know if he knows it means his baba. He usually only says this when he is hungry though.

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? He always answers to his name except for when he is watching Mickey Mouse Club House. :)

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they? He says "dada" clearly. Also he is trying to say "hot" right now. But he cant seem to get it out right yet.

does your dc wave hi and/or bye? nope not yet

does your dc mimic you? if so how? yes see the first question above.

Re: moms of 8-10 months old

Troy will be 10 months tomorrow...

clap when you say "clap hands"? not really-he did it once unsolicited. I try to get him to do it, and he looks at me as if he's too "good" for clapping. I try to make him do it and most of the time he just clasps his hands together

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? he looks around for DH when I say "Where's dada?" And he says "dada". Not sure what he does when someone else asks where I am, as we're together 98% of the time

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)?90%

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they?yes. he says cat, though it sounds like gat. He also says Elmo, again, it doesn't sound exactly like Elmo, but he says it whenever he sees or hears Elmo.

does your dc wave hi and/or bye? Yes to both. He waves and does the open/close of hands

does your dc mimic you? if so how? laughing, dancing, making silly sounds. I'm sure there is more, but that is all I can think of now

Re: moms of 8-10 months old

DD is 9 months old

clap when you say "clap hands"? Yes

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? She will look in the direction of where we are. Sometimes if I say "where's Daddy?" She'll look towards the door he comes through when he comes home from work

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? Yes 98% of the time, but if she's watching "Jack's Big Music Show" it usually takes a few times

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they? Oh yes.... "arrrrrrrr.....grrrrrrrrr. AH!....BBBBBBBBBBB....thpppppbbbtttttttt"

does your dc wave hi and/or bye? yes, it's very cute

does your dc mimic you? if so how? Lately she'll "shake her booty" when music's on and we dance. When I tell her "NO", she'll give me a "AH" back. She also tries to imitate sounds I'm making. Also, she's just getting the "How big is Bella?" and when we raise our hands to say "SOOOOO big!" she'll raise her hands too. As well as if she's gags on water from it going down too fast or the wrong pipe...my mom would always pull our hands up and say "hands in the air" to clear the windwipe...well we've been doing that with her and now, if she starts to gag on water, she'll raise her hands up all on her own. And she'll immitate us when we do an indian call.

He imitates us when we: cough, laugh, or dance. He can cluck his tongue after w started doing it with him, if we bang on something he does it the same amount of times we did it, he growls and barks from seeing my sister in laws dog do it
Chat Icon , and blows and gives kisses and hugs, and imitates all kinds of sounds

Hmm...DD is 8.5 months and can't really do any of the stuff you listed. She says "Ma Ma" but I don't really know if she knows that I am Ma Ma...she can't clap, but she can "high-five". She doesn't really respond to her name.

Re: moms of 8-10 months old

My DD just turned 10months 2 days ago.

She claps randomly. She wont clap if you ask her to. However, idf she sees or hears someone clapping she will start clapping.

She waves hi and bye.

She answers to her name about 90% of the time.

When you say Mommy or Daddy.. She usually points to one of us or to a picture of one of us on the wall.

She clearly says Mama and Dada. She can say buy buy (bye), baby, and she just started saying tank u (thank you).

clap when you say "clap hands"? Nope. He went through a period about a month and a half ago where he was clapping all the time, but once he feels he has mastered something it disappears for a while and then resurfaces.

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do? Depends. I do think that he knows what they mean.

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)? 80%. When he is really into something there is no getting his attention.

does your dc wave hi and/or bye? We just started working on this yesterday.

does your dc mimic you? if so how? If I blow him a raspberry he does it. If I babble at him he talks back to me in the same manner. When I play the piano he wants to play also.

DD is 8 months old.

clap when you say "clap hands"?
--> She just recently started to "clap" (frantically throw her arms together) but I never tried with just a verbal command (she imitates us)

when you say" where's daddy or mommy?" what does your dc do?
--> No idea! I didn't realize that she might know this at this point, so I think I need to pay closer attention! Chat Icon

what about % of the time does your dc answer to their name on the 1st time (even when they are engaged in an activity)?
--> She responds well to her name. If she's involved, of course the % decreases. Overall, I'd say 80% of the time.

can your dc's say any meaningful words? what are they?
--> Nothing meaningful yet

does your dc wave hi and/or bye?
--> She just started doing this, but not consistently. It's sort of just whenever she feels like it! But it is at the appropriate times (well, most of the time Chat Icon).

does your dc mimic you? if so how?
--> Sometimes with sounds, sometimes with faces, and sometimes with gestures
