Moms of babies not sttn yet....
how are you functioning? I am not doing so well I go back to work in a few weeks and I'm honestly very concerned as to how I'll function then. I never dealt with this with Ava because by 7 weeks old, she was sttn. I'm so tired that I can barely function these days. I have no energy to do anything and I'm afraid to drive when I'm like this. How in the wolrd will I go back to work? And I mean, my husband gets up the nights he's home, but I'm still so tired all the time. I'm so upset and I probably make no sense right now And to add to it, Chase was starting to sleep better at night, but now he's reverting because my poor baby is starting to teethe already. He's got bubbles on his gums and everything and the ped. confirmed that's what it is the other day So now he's miserable, I'm exhausted, poor Ava's neglected and we're all unhappy

when DS 1 was 10 months old I was so exhaustred I was in 2 car accidents in one week and wound up quitting my job, I was an effing zombie.
I'm starting to get very sick o getting up at night

I start work again two weeks from tomorrow Jordan, who was doing better, is now worse because he's teething. I have no idea how I'm going to deal with this and be at my desk at 7:15 every morning.

Many hugs Rach!
Sienna is far from STTN at this point.
Coffee and vitamins and tons of water! Otherwise if I find something that works, I will let you know!

Well, I'm sorry we're all in the same club, girls I was drinking so much coffee that it was actually keeping me up at night, ironically, so I had to cut back on that. I'm feeling that one in the afternoons big time. Ugg. This effing sucks.

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
My DS is 9mo old and I just weaned him from his one MOTN feeding. He still wakes around 4 am looking to nurse, but I'm letting him CIO. Even though he wakes for only a min or two, I'm up and can't go back to sleep. I go back to work next month, so I hope he learns to stay asleep by then. I've just adjusted to getting less sleep and/or going to bed early to catch up.

You already know that you and I are in the exact same boat. Right down to the fact that I'm paying almost NO attention to Ryleigh these days because Brendan requires so much from me.
As I was driving Ryleigh to music class yesterday morning, I realized that I should NOT have been driving, especially on these narrow, windy country roads...
I give you a lot of credit though, because my DH is here to help out at night and I'm STILL feeling like the walking dead. That's gotta be rough
I'm back to teaching in 2 short weeks, I really hope things start looking up by then

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
I honestly don't know how I'm going to function come September. I mean, in one respect, at least I'll be teaching and engaged in something, so that's good, but I'm still worried. The only good thing is my husband, god bless him, used all of his vacation time in September and took every week day off that he was supposed to be working so that he can help me transition back to work. So hopefully by the time October comes and he goes back to work, Chase will be sleeping better. Gotta love my hubby

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
I had 4 months when I was back to work and DS wasn't STTN. It was rough--lots of caffeine. that was about all. some days i thought i couldn't possibly function, but you surprise yourself! DS started STTN at 6 months, then had a month of teething after that where he woke up for about a month crying and needing to be consoled.

Tyler didn't STTN until he turned 6 months old and I did CIO. There were days I was so tired I couldn't see straight. Hope it's better soon!

Mason still wakes up once a night for a bottle. I am in the process of cutting him down from 6oz to 4oz. There are days when I can barely function, and some days when I feel ok.

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
It is so hard. DD sleeps through the night on and off. Last night she was up at 11:30 or so and I let her cry it out and she slept till 6:20! That's a good night for us and she's over 5 months old!! I am so painfully tired every day and it sucks. Hopefully in the next few weeks he'll start to sleep better!

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
OMG I am dying...Immi is up 3-4 times every night and I exhausted! She wants to nurse and always winds up in bed with me. I am finding it hard to cope also, but just push aside the tiredness to get on with things.
Thank goodness I am on a years maternity leave, I have a few more months of being paid so I am doing okay.

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
Ughhh I feel for ya cause I'm in a similar boat. My DS is 5 weeks old and he wakes up every 2 HOURS at night!!! Everything in life seems 10x harder when you're this deprived of sleep.
My DD was always a great sleeper. Even before she sttn at 8 weeks old, she would only get up once to eat. I was definitely spoiled with her.
I'm just taking it day by day at this point. Every night I go to "sleep" and think to myself, "maybe tonight will be the night that he sleeps for longer than 2 hours a stretch!"

I have no idea. Liam is 14 months and still doesn't STTN most nights. The past few weeks he has been in bed with us which I HATE. But, I don't have the energy to CIO or anything. Sooo I give in. I need to stop..but, sleep is so nice and it's hard to convince myself that I shouldn't take him into bed at 3am...so in conclusion.. I am wuss and maybe you should take him into bed with you when he wakes up? Not ideal... but, you may get sleep.
Hang in there..

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
Hang in there!
My son didn't start sttn until he was 19 months old. He started sttn at 10 weeks and then when i went back to work when he was 11 weeks... it ended. I guess i was being punished.
It was hard. Not going to lie. I felt like a zombie. But after a while, i just learned to function that way. I drank lots of coffee. I went to bed at 8:30pm most nights. It was the worst. Then on the occassional night he slept, i felt even worse because my body wasn't used to it and it messed me up even more.
It was hard. But you'll get through it. I promise.

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
It's tough.
We started CIO this weekend but, he's still waking in the middle of the night.
I'm just exhausted, DH has been working a lot of overtime at night so he too is exhausted.
I had a little meltdown at 3am this morning. They just laid off a number of people in my office to cut costs and I feel that my sleep deprivation is making my work sub-par and I'm getting to my busy time (which is 2x as busy as usual because a lot of new projects came up and some of my regular work had a deadline shift).

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
Jack usually only wakes once so it isnt so bad but on the rare rough nights, its coffee and a cold shower and a few choice words ... ALL day long!
you will get through it and then one day, you can make him feel guilty about it

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
My DS is 4 1/2 months and definitely not STTN. We are working on cutting down the night feedings to 2 instead of 3. But he wakes up a bunch of time for the pacifier in addition to eating.
Honestly, I'm very discouraged. At 2 1/2 months he started doing 6 hour stretches pretty consistently and then the occasional 8 hour stretch but we haven't had a night like that in weeks. He's getting up way more now than he did as a newborn. I'm hoping it is just a phase, but I have a 2 1/2 year old at home who doesn't go to bed until 9pm (he has his own sleep issues) and I'm tired!!
DH and I are trying to take shifts at night so we both get a good stretch, but I end up waking up every time he stirs even if DH is the one to get up.
To all the tired mommies out there.

It's amazing but your body can function on less and less sleep. Seamus has been up 1 - 2x a night for the past 3 months and I manage to function. it is getting harder though

Re: Moms of babies not sttn yet....
It's not great, but you just do it. DD slept through the night for one month around Christmas time. She is a restless sleeper and at 1 still wakes once or twice during the night. I worked a whole school year feeling like a sleep deprived zombie and exhausted all of the time. I am also borderline anemic. Looks like I will be entering the 2010-2011 school year in the same zombie state- DD has been teething for months and has 5 teeth cutting through at once- this has not aided with her sleep habits one bit. You will do fine- you will adjust . . .
