moms of big toddlers- car seat

Bryan just turned 2 but is around 35 -36 lbs and tall- he is a big kid and quickly outgrowing his car seat which hold up to 40 lbs. Any of you get the booster type car seat yet- is he too young? he meets the weight requirement already,. He is looking so uncomfy in his seat right now ( britax roundabout.)

I don't know if I would put a 2 yr old in a booster type seat yet. But I guess if he meets the weight/height requirement then you have no choice.

Nate is 2, weight about 30lbs and is 36 inches. We have the Graco Triumph and he stilll sits comfortably in it. We are thinking of getting a second car soon, so we might get him the Britax that goes up to 65lbs.

Jared is a BIG boy. He sits comfortably in his Eddie Bauer seat that fits up to 100 pounds.

We have the Britax Boulevard, which is good to 65 lbs. Even though he meets the height/weight, his body is probably not ready to handle just being in a booster. Bones need to get bigger and stronger, muscles need to also. I would test out some of the bigger car seats, and find one that is comfortable for him. DS is 4, and right at the edge of meeting the requirements for a booster seat, but he's going to be in his car seat for a while yet, since it's safer, and the seat can handle him for another 25 lbs or so.

ETA: The Britax Regent goes up to 80 lbs, and is designed for larger kids, and/or keeping them in a car seat as long as possible: http://www.britaxusa.net/products/detail_regent.aspx

Most of the other Britax models go up to 65 lbs, including the very popular Marathon.

My son is in the Eddie Bauer Convertible Car seat in one car and the Eddie Bauer Booster seat (since before 2) in the other. Kevin is 2 and he has no issues with size - he is over 36 inches and probably 34lbs or so...

The booster is like this...
