Moms of climbers?
How do you deal with it?
Rj climbs on everything, and apparently has no fear (since lately his new game is diving off the couch- he cries when he falls, but yet continues to climb right back up)
I keep trying to teach him no (to certain things) and how to sit right on the other climbing things (couches, bed, kitchen chairs etc...) and he gets it, but then stands right back up, or proceeds to jump off....he thinks everything is a game...
He makes me a nervous wreck!

Zachary thinks its a game too! Actually they both do, but he gets hysterical laughing when you yell at him to SIT DOWN!!!!! He thinks its the funniest thing. Its funny cuz he can't climb without using his bouncy seat as a stepping stone to get onto the couch, chair whatever.
Hailey does pretty much the same thing, but its like she knows its wrong - but she does it anyway. Like she gives this looks like "yeah what are you gonna do about it?!"

Re: Moms of climbers?
take the chairs away....remove the stimulus. see if that works....
otherwise, invest in some gym mats!!

Re: Moms of climbers?
My couches seems to be the bigger problem... and they cant be removed...
Besides- Im not a beliver in removing the stimulus/ say...
He has to learn what is and isnt acceptable... I just need to figure out how to do that w/o letting him get hurt!

Re: Moms of climbers?
Honestly, I have no clue what to do. My mom and MIL are no help bc they both said my brothers and DH were not as rambuncious (sp??) as Nate. My MIL has called Nate her little stuntman.
I just found out he can climb the dining room chairs. I thought for sure his next move was going to try to get on top of the glass table, but he didn't.
Usually when he climbs something, I'll tell him no standing. Sometimes he'll listen and sit down, but when he doesn't I'll go over to him and make him sit down. If he does it again, I say do you want a time out.... He immediately sits down while nodding his head no.

Re: Moms of climbers?
Honestly, I don't know. Gianni has been up on the back of my couch since 5.5-6 months. From there, it's gotten MUCH worse! It's just him and he needs to explore. I try to keep him as safe as possible, but at some points he does get hurt and I can't do much about it.
You've seen the myspace picture of him on my oven.
